    POSITION TITLE: MILLWRIGHT/ GENERAL MECHANIC     (DAY WORK)                             

    REPORTS TO: MAINTENANCE SUPERVISOR  

    LOCATION: MACON, GA

    POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES: 

    • This position requires intimate knowledge of machining production practices, operating a variety of machine tools to produce parts, modify parts to make or repair machine tools or to maintain industrial machines, by applying knowledge of mechanics, mathematics, metal properties, layout, and machining procedures. Responsibilities include preventive maintenance, repair maintenance activities, equipment inspections, lubrication of equipment, precision measurement, maintenance pumps and bearings, gearboxes and various valves, filters, strainers and steam traps.

    • Ability to utilize personal computers and databases is desired. Five (5) years of experience is required coupled with a flexible attitude and ability to work closely with others.

    • Familiar with preventive and predictive maintenance concepts/technologies

    • Able to read/interpret blueprints, pipe layouts and fabrication design; and be proficient in the use of basic hand and power tools, precision tools, measurement tools, rigging, and possesses functional welding abilities.

    • Able to Identify, Locate, Order, Manage spare parts as needed

    • Capability of working in a physically intense environment. Ability to lift up to 74 pounds. This position requires frequent standing, walking, bending, stooping, crouching, reaching, grasping, and climbing.

     

     

    POSITION SPECIFICATIONS:  

    • Commitment to safety and quality
    • Ability to read and interrupt blueprints and schematics
    • Computer literacy – Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook); SAP experience a plus.
    • Good communication skills - verbal and written
    • The ability to work independently and in a team environment by receiving and completing work orders; gathering tools and supplies to complete the work assigned
    • Willing to update job knowledge thru participation in educational opportunities
    • Willing to work rotating Shifts and Overtime
    • Lean/5S systems knowledge a plus
    • Basic Trouble shooting (Pneumatics/Hydraulics/mechanical/electrical systems)
    • Good project management skills.

     DESIRED BACKGROUND:

    • 5 years of industrial experience as a first class millwright. Must provide documentation for completion of formal training to include certifications for machining, tooling, & mechanical disciplines or a demonstrated work history which supports equivalent experience
    • Excellent teams skills
    • Understanding of installing, repairing and maintaining industrial equipment in paper mill or similar industries.
