• Determine direction of H.R. department in relation to plant objectives.
• Conduct employee performance appraisals on H.R. staff, monitor and provide guidance to employees who are also required to conduct performance appraisals.
• Write and amend department job descriptions, monitor and provide guidance to employees who are also required to create job descriptions.
• Manage the health and safety program.
• Manage the salary merit program.
• Manage the labor relation activity within the plant and administer the collective agreements.
• Establish and control department budget.
• Participate in continuous improvement groups to resolve problems.
• Oversee the training plan and evaluate its effectiveness.
• Maintain hourly manpower levels.
• Assist plant manager in acquiring additional employees.
• Ensure all government legislation dealing with the H.R. function is been complied with.
• Attend all staff meetings.
• Special projects as assigned by the plant manager.
• Manage the salaried benefit program.
• Other duties as assigned.
