    STEM COORDINATOR

    Our STEM COORDINATATOR is an extraordinary leader who LEADS SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY, ENGINEERING, AND MATHEMATICS INSTRUCTION for underserved young people of color through in-person and remote interactions. The coordination ensures the successful implementation of programming through excellent leadership. The STEM Coordinator reports directly to the STEM Program Director and is dedicated to addressing the learning gap for students of color in marginalized communities. The STEM Coordinator facilitates cohesion amongst personnel and oversees the daily success of the STEM program through exceptional leadership, integrity and team work. 

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

    • Lead classroom instruction for Kindergarten to High School students
    • Serve as the in-person and remote lead for all programmatic needs
    • Conduct observation of teachers, students and STEM Lab activities 
    • Create and Implement curriculum and classroom activities aligned with Next Generation Science Standards and Common Core standards
    • Coordinate and schedule STEM instructors for in-person and remote instruction on a weekly basis
    • Interface with and manage all aspects of communications with instructors
    • Serve as liaison between onsite programming and management
    • Ensure STEM instructors are on site and adhering to their set schedule including, but not limited to, clocking in and out and taking breaks
    • Ensure pre and post exams are administered correctly and efficiently
    • Manage student data and prepare quarterly and annual reports
    • Provide experiential learning experiences through fun, engaging and educational STEM labs
    • Practice Professionalism and participate in weekly Professional Development and training
    • Manage student behavior to ensure every student is fully engaged
    • Work collaboratively with program staff and partners during weekly programming and community events
    • Collect Data and information for administrators and School district teachers for all programming sites
    • Manage ConnecTeams and similar systems 
    • Professionally communicate with staff and community partners
    • Create weekly and monthly timesheets report
    • Maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the job
    • Ability to work effectively with a diverse community
    • Perform other related duties as assigned

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Bachelor's Degree in the fields of science, technology, engineering, mathematics, medicine, nursing and/or another related field.
    • Experience working with underserved youth
    • 1-3 years' experience
    • Working knowledge of Next Generation Science Standards
    • COVID-19 Vaccination

    DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Master's degree from a regionally accredited institution
    • 1-5 years' experience in an educational setting, preferred.

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

    • Ability to lead a team of diverse instructors
    • Ability to have an open mind to learn
    • Passion for educating and helping k-12th grade students
    • Knowledge of Google, Canva, Microsoft and other data collection software
    • Ability and willingness to reflect and improve instructional practices
    • Ability to learn new software quickly
    • A team player
    • Ability to Multitask
    • Ability to meet deadlines and work on multiple projects 
    • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills 
    • Cooperative, mindful and encouraging 
    • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
    • Must be able to handle confidential and sensitive materials in a professional manner
    • Strong personal initiative to identify problems

     

    THE PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

    • Stand, walk or bend over, kneel, crouch, reach overhead, grasp, push, and pull. Move, lift and/or carry up to 30 pounds to shoulder height
    • Repetitive use of hands (i.e. fine manipulation, simple grasping, and power grasping)
    • Demonstrate normal depth perception
    • Sitting, walking or standing for extended periods of time
    • Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, operate standard office equipment, and use a telephone
    • See and read a computer screen and printed matter with or without vision aids
    • Read and understand rules and policies, labels, and instructions
    • Hear and understand speech at normal levels and on the telephone
    • Verbal communications, including the ability to speak and hear at normal room levels and on the telephone

    WORK ENVIRONMENT:

    The work environment characteristics are representative of those in a normal office, classroom/school setting which one might encounter while performing the essential functions of this job

    • Work indoors (or outdoors) in a standard office environment, computer lab, and/or classroom environment
    • Work is performed in indoor and outdoor environments
    • Exposure to dust, oils, and cleaning chemicals
    • Some exposure to childhood and other diseases in a school environment
    • May be required to work outside of normal workdays and office hours to meet operational deadlines
    • Exposure to science lab materials
