How would you like to build out a Data Engineering team at a company changing the 'Gig' economy game? We are seeking a talented Data Engineering Manager to build the next and best version of our Data infrastructure.

What's The Job?

As our Manager of Data Engineering you will be tasked with building out our in-house Data Engineering team. Currently we have a number of Data Engineers 'off-shore' but we want to take it all internal, which is something you will spearhead. Right now the team is comprised of 1 Data Engineer here in San Fran, and 4 other contractors 'off-shore'. We'd like you to build a team of 5 here in the U.S.

Your team will be improving the overall Data Quality, building Data Pipelines from scratch, and creating our next generation Data Warehouse. Your team will liaise closely with our ML & Data Science teams, all teams of which are umbrellaed under our 'Data Team'.

You'll be more 'hands-on' to start, then as the team grows your role will move more heavily towards management and strategy (although we do like our managers to always be close enough to the keyboard to not get rusty).

We are still operating independently within a startup environment, but we now have the deep pockets to have all the resources we need to achieve our lofty goals. There's no burning of VC cash here and the fear of 'running out of runway'.

Our head office is in San Fran, but this role, and your team, can operate on a fully-remote basis so we are accepting candidates from anywhere in the U.S.

Compensation:

• Base Salary of $200,000 - 220,000
• Bonus of 15%
• Full Benefits Package

What Skills Do You Need?

• Previous experience managing a Data Engineering team.
• Ability to scale teams and infrastructure simultaneously.
• You can manage remote-based teams.
• Your still hands-on and up to date with bleeding-edge Data Engineering tools.
• You have the business acumen to understand how to build Data infrastructure taking into account the overall business needs of a company, and able to communicate the technical aspects to non-technical internal stakeholders effectively.
• Minimum of a Bachelors Degree in a STEM field.
