    The firm is seeking a Practice Systems Analyst with expertise in Knowledge Management / Library Systems to become an integral part of the Information Services Department. The Systems Analyst will help identify and implement new and manage existing innovative practice solutions to support the Firm’s practices and drive adoption of those tools by working with lawyers and Practice Group Managers to develop supporting roles and processes.

    The Practice Systems Analyst works with the firm’s Knowledge management attorneys, Practice Group Managers, Legal Project Management staff, and Information Services teams to identify and implement effective technology tools and resources.

     

    What Will the Knowledge Management Systems Analyst Do?

    • Manage the firm's practice systems, including their configuration, feeds, data collections, and integrations with other systems.
    • Be the liaison between Library Systems (Knowledge Management), Attorneys and Support Staff, as well as IT.
    • Assist with development, implementation, and administration of databases that enable knowledge management and client service efficiencies.
    • Work with lawyers and staff to identify and capture knowledge, expertise, and best practices using AI and other tools to simplify the KM process.
    • Assist in promoting firm-developed and acquired practice management systems and knowledge management tools by creating and conducting technology demos, leading training sessions, writing and presenting usage guides, and participating in educational events and presentations.
    • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the firm's knowledge management activities and make recommendations for improvement.
    • Conduct periodic reviews of data and data points collected by various systems to ensure data quality and cross-compatibility.
    • Participate in the development and implementation of firm-wide initiatives related to knowledge management.

     

    What Skills and Experience will the Knowledge Management Systems Analyst Have? 

    • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Library and Information Science, Computer Science, or a related field.
    • 3+ years of experience in knowledge management or innovation/applications team in a law firm (highly preferred) or professional services organization's legal department.
    • Building out Wireframes and project plans
    • A background in tech (Software Development in particular) is a huge PLUS
    • A strong understanding of AI prompts, and solutions, and the ability to work with KM attorneys and teach them the firm's new initiatives in a way that makes sense to them. 
    • Proficiency in diagramming solutions like Visio or Lucidchart and understanding of UML and wireframing an application.
    • Very strong documentation skills, including technical diagrams and user/support manuals.
    • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement effective knowledge management solutions.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with lawyers and staff at all levels of the organization.
    • Experience with knowledge management tools and technologies, including document management systems, intranets, databases, and collaboration tools such as Lexus, Westlaw, and Fastcase. (you do not need to be an expert in these, we can teach the specific tools, you just need to have a deep understanding of how KM & Tech works) .
    • Basic understanding of content management systems, their configurations, and capabilities.

    You do not have to be a sophisticated Software Engineer or Data Engineer to do this job, but you will have to understand law firm technology, build wireframes, and be a liaison between KM, Attorneys, and IT.  Communication and the ability to "read the room" is essential, as is prior Law Firm Experience.
