Avvir is out to change the way we interact with the built environment. We create and continuously update a digital replica of buildings that serve as the buildings system of record. We do this by comparing the 3D design models (known as BIMs) that are created at the outset of a buildings construction to laser scans of the ever changing reality. During construction this enables stakeholders to identify construction errors and monitor progress in real time. And once a building is occupied, we enable that digital twin to serve as a platform for the internet of things, integrating data from hundreds of connected sensors in a common data environment.

This role is based in the New York City are, with some travel required (when COVID restrictions make it feasible). Currently we are all working from home.

• In less than 12 months weve gone from $300k in ARR to $1.4m.
• We just raised $10m in Series A funding.
• Our current customers love us. We have negative churn (i.e., we grow within our customers) over the last 12 months.

THE ROLE:

As a Reality Capture Manager at Avvir, you will use advanced technology to develop actionable insights providing in-depth knowledge of existing buildings and spaces. The ideal candidate is a person who has a thirst for leveraging reality capture technology in the field and the office. Field Capture technology such as GEOSlam, FARO, Leica, Matterport, 360 Cameras, Drones, etc. and other visualization tools will be utilized in this role. Field capture, data registration, file management, and BIM integration will fall into the day-to-day tasks for this position. Some travel will be required.

YOUR DAY AT AVVIR

A sample day at Avvir may include:

• Visit a customer construction sites to capture progress of project using a GeoSlam mobile LIDAR scanner or 360 camera.

• Register and align scans to customer BIMs using CloudCompare.

• Validate automated scan analysis results.

• Communicate with customers and team about progress and results delivery.

• Collaborate with team members to arrive at elegant and practical solutions that enables Avvir to scale our Reality Capture & analysis operations and deliver results to customers more quickly.

• Consult with customers on best practices for Reality Capture.

• Establish Reality Capture and Analysis goals and objectives and develop workflows, best practices

• Stay up-to-date on Reality Capture best practices, trends and latest technology

• Teach & Mentor team members on Reality Capture techniques, industry trends, best practices, etc.

• Take breaks to get coffee, go for a walk, read, meditate, or just relax

• Leave work and enjoy your evening

REQUIREMENTS

NECESSARY EXPERIENCE

• 5-8 years of experience as a surveyor or Reality Capture Specialist, Engineer or Manager
• Experience with 3D mobile LIDAR scanning and other Reality Capture technology
• Understanding of building components
• Knowledge of Reality Capture and VDC processes used in the industry
• Ability to read construction drawings
• Be flexible and may work with numerous project teams to help in project completion
• Excellent communication and organizational skills with a strong work ethic
• A dedication to lifelong learning on any subject related to Reality Capture technology & innovation
• Proficiency in any of the top scanner & point cloud tools: such as CloudCompare or Recap
• Associates or bachelors degree (or work experience equivalent) in Surveying, Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture or a similar field.
• Active membership in appropriate professional organizations

BONUS EXPERIENCE

• Experience in commerical construction
• Experience performing clash detection using point clouds and Navvisworks.
• Experience creating floor flatness analysis from point clouds.
• Experience with drone piloting
• Experience in training, mentoring, and/or upskilling interns.
  • This position initially does not have direct reports, but we do have interns who help with Reality Capture at customer job sites.
