    Under the general guidance of the Sr. Manager, IT, the Manager, Technology and Architecture is responsible for the support, maintenance and administration of the technical infrastructure supporting Mitsubishi Electric Automation’s information systems in the Americas.  Consults with the Business Relationship Specialists to understand short- and long-term business requirements in the areas of business applications, information management, voice and data networks, environment and security management, information access, directory services, messaging and application integration.  Oversee the development and adoption of technology standards for the Americas and standard operating procedures to bring about cost efficiencies, reliability and system interoperability.  As well, this role drives all elements of technology strategy development, execution and support, establishes and manages key vendors and leads the company’s core technology team.

     

     POSITION DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:        

    • Responsible for the support, maintenance and administration of the technical infrastructure (data center, voice and data networks, desktop/printers, etc.) supporting MEAU; Ability to be hands-on, when appropriate, is required
    • Evaluation of technical infrastructure and recommendation of changes to improve overall reliability of business system environment
    • Disaster Recovery planning and execution
    • Responsible for oversight of all IT help desk functions
    • Responsible for managing Infrastructure capital and operating expense budget
    • Evaluate in-sourcing vs. out-sourcing options for data center, voice and data networks, desktop/printer and support of technical environment
    • Responsible for managing Infrastructure technical vendors/providers and their contacts with MEAU
    • Perform other job functions as assigned.

     

    SUPERVISORY / MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Technical Infrastructure and Help Desk teams – 4 – 6 direct reports
    • Oversee daily activities, and manage the performance of the staff.
    • Adhere to supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
    • Perform interviews, hiring, and training of employees; planning, assigning, and directing work: appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

    TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

    • 10% Travel within North America, possible travel to Japan.

    BENEFICIAL EDUCATION, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

    • Experience working in an ERP environment, preferably SAP
    • Experience working with Salesforce CRM a plus
    • Microsoft, Cisco and/or Juniper certifications (recent, if not current) preferred
    • Experience in 8x8 VoIP technology a plus
    • Experience in NetApp/Cisco HyperFlex technology a plus
    • Certification in information security (CISSP, CSSLP, CCFP, CISM, etc.) a plus

    Required Skills Required Experience

    ESSENTIAL EDUCATION, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

    • A minimum of 10-15 years of progressively increasing responsibility and achievement in the Information Technology area, with at least 5 years system/network architectural design.
    • BA/BS degree, in a related technical or business discipline is required
    • 5+ years supervisory/management experience
    • Ensure adherence to accepted project management and internal IT practices.
    • Ensure creation and maintenance of functional documentation, standards and policies.
    • Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to achieve results through others are required. Proven ability to guide business and technical strategies through development of a technology roadmap
    • Experience designing, deploying, and administering scalable, available, and fault tolerant systems on cloud based platforms (AWS, Azure, etc.)
    • Must have in depth, up-to-date and hands-on knowledge of Microsoft infrastructure technologies including Active Directory, Exchange 2010/2013/2016, VMware, Office 365, DNS, DHCP, as well as a concrete understanding of the Cisco IOS and associated Cisco LAN/WAN products.
    • In depth, up-to-date and broad knowledge of the Information Technology field is required, including all major communications and computing technologies and trends
    • Excellent interpersonal, oral/presentation and written communications skills in both technical and non-technical language
    • Proven leadership skills to motivate a staff to attainment of critical goals
    • Conceptual and analytical thinker, able to understand, analyze and synthesize complex business and technology issues and strategies
    • Team builder/player, able to work effectively with others
    • Broad I.T. management, technology and project management background
    • A business orientation towards the use and management of I.T. systems and functions. Ability to bridge the business/technology communication gap with business leaders at all levels
