Position Summary: The role of the Vocational Specialist is to **** assist patients at Axis Health System to establish meaningful work activities. The Vocational Specialist works with both individuals and employers to identify employment matches. The Vocational Specialist collaborates with members of the treatment team to assist patients in meeting their treatment goals and obtain and maintain competitive employment.
Our ideal candidate for our Vocational Specialist position will have a bachelor’s degree and previous experience in a behavioral health or educational setting. Two years’ experience with education/career advising or career counseling and/or Individualized Placement and Support Certification are preferred.
Salary:
Durango Location: Starting pay is $20.50 - $21.58, per hour and considers preferred experience and preferred education described above. *Add'l $2.50 per hour for Durango locations.
Montrose Location: Starting pay is $19.00 (base rate18.00 + Locale $1.00) - $20.08, per hour and considers preferred experience and preferred education described above. *Add'l $1.00 per hour for Montrose locations.
Cortez Location: Starting pay is $18.00 - $19.08, per hour and considers preferred experience and preferred education described above.

Physical demands : **** Employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds. Employee is frequently required to walk, sit, stand, or kneel and occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop. Must have ability to sit for longer periods at a computer. Employee must be able to travel between Axis Health System locations. Possible potential exposure to communicable disease. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Additional eligibility requirements: **** Annual Flu immunization, Annual TB screening, CPI training within 90 days of hire, BLS PRO certification required within 90 days of hire.

Axis is both a Community Mental Health Center and Community Health Center- the only organization in Colorado with this designation.
Specific services include the following:
Mental Health Outpatient (MHOP) services: AHS’ MHOP services include individual, family, and group therapy, psychiatric assessment and care, and wellness and healthy living education and support. Care is delivered in teams that may include mental health clinicians, psychiatric providers, case managers, vocational specialists, peer specialists, and wellness advocates.
Crisis services, respite, and withdrawal management: AHS provides 24/7/365 crisis care, as well as social withdrawal services, acute psychiatric care, and mobile crisis response.
Co-responder: AHS collaborates with law enforcement and municipalities in Montezuma County as well as the City of Durango to provide clinical support when calls involve someone experiencing behavioral health challenges.
Substance Use Disorder treatment: AHS also offers comprehensive treatment (including several evidenced-based practices) for individuals with substance use disorders, including individual therapy, group therapy, an intensive outpatient program, and education classes. AHS collaborates with local law enforcement programs and participates in the regional Drug Courts to help residents address substance use issues that have resulted in involvement with the legal system.
Integrated Healthcare: AHS provides whole-person healthcare with a multi-disciplinary approach that focuses on wellness outcomes for all patients. This includes primary care, pharmacy, and dental services, in addition to behavioral health services.
Other Services: Include Parent-Child Interaction Therapy, Assertive Community Treatment, Medication-Assisted Treatment, Early Childhood Mental Health Consultation, Jail-based services, co-responder programs, and more.
