  • Responsibilities

    The successful candidate will work as part of a team of Chaplains and will collaborate with the Associate Director of Religious and Spiritual Life and student leaders to catalyze a climate of value based exploration specifically in the area of spiritual and religious life. Candidates will have demonstrated experience working successfully with individuals of diverse cultural backgrounds to include nationality, race and ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation and religious background.  We desire proven energetic and creative leaders with excellent oral and written communications skills.     

    This is a part-time position, approx. 8 hours per week.

      

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    • Collaborates on the programmatic pieces of the Chaplain’s office including quarterly chapel services and monthly programs introducing the Stetson community to various faith traditions
    • Collaborates to create new programming as needed and to support student and faculty led programming efforts
    • Assists with the ceremonial needs of the campus including planning and presiding over University events
    • Assist Dean of Students and Vice President of Campus Life and Student Success with supporting students and families in crisis
    • Provides general spiritual support and indirect counseling to members of the Stetson community. This includes serving as a confidential source for Title IX (sexual assault and harassment reports). This includes holding open office hours and outreach/relationship building to campus constituents.
    • Provides mentoring to religious student organization leadership
    • Visits Stetson community members and their families for pastoral care while in the hospital or in times of need
    • Works with the Associate Director of Religious and Spiritual Life to strategically plan for the best approach for campus Chaplain Services moving forward
    • Performs other site and position specific functions as assigned

     

    Minimum Education:

    Required Experience

    • Demonstrated experience working successfully with individuals of diverse cultural backgrounds to include nationality, race and ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation and religious background
    • Ordination as a minister (or equivalent training and/or certification) in a recognized religious practice

     

    Salary Grade:  7

     

    Completed COVID-19 Vaccine status required
