    SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE SENIOR AIR SUPPLY, MECHANICAL ENGINEER 5S is a Sr. Mechanical Engineering position with significant depth and breadth of Locomotive Air Supply product engineering and application knowledge.

      

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

     

    1. Expert in customer application and actual field use of locomotive air supply products.
    2. Provide specialized analysis and technical guidance on locomotive air supply products.
    3. Guide the appropriate analysis of heat transfer, thermodynamics, fluids, etc. as they relate to locomotive air supply products.
    4. Lead special projects/investigations, outside usual NYAB engineering competence.
    5. Support/lead in Cost Reduction Teams.
    6. Understand and support all Quality, Product Safety, and Health/Safety/Environmental/ Energy policies.
    7. Understand and adhere to all relevant statutory or regulatory compliance obligations.
    8. Understand, support and adhere to the Integrated Management System policies, procedures and instructions.
    9. Understand and support relevant key performance indicators (KPIs), as defined in the goal tree.

     

    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY This position has 0-1 direct personnel

    WORK ENVIRONMENT The employee will be required to perform duties on a computer terminal. In addition, the employee may be exposed to test lab conditions, i.e. noise, heat, cold, compressed air and electricity, etc. 

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS The physical demands are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of an office work environment position and a test lab environment position.

    Required Skills

    Competencies may include the following, depending on area of specialization:

    1. Highly proficient in engineering analysis in the areas of heat transfer, thermodynamics, fluids/pneumatic systems, etc.
    2. Proficient with simulation and modeling of air supply systems.
    3. Expert in engineering analysis for robustness, quality, reliability, safety, cost.
    4. Familiar with parametric 3D CAD Modeling.
    5. Understands imperial and metric units of measure.
    6. Proficient in Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
    7. Proficient with multiple Engineering systems and processes.
    8. Proficient with design FMEA.
    9. Understands Six-Sigma and engineering/quality statistics.
    10. Proficient with scheduling, planning, and program management.
    11. Understands system FMECA and RAMS.

    Required Experience

    1. Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering and/or other relevant Engineering disciplines
    2. Typically, >20 Years of Relevant Experience

      

    PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Master’s Degree
