    Job Responsibilities

    The Formulation Chemist is responsible for developing innovative and unique skin care and hair care formulations for a variety of brands. You will formulate and work closely with Product Development (PD) and the team to ensure seamless flow as products move from lab development to production launch.

    In addition to formulating in the lab, you will manage a team of lab technicians, providing training, guidance, and written formulas & procedures, to ensure projects are completed on time, meet finished goods objectives (including quality, safety, sustainability, and other customer requirements).

    Provide written formulation & process

    Analytical training & guidance (Viscosity, PH, Specific Gravity, Fill Weight)

    Oversee formula stability, including documentation and issue resolution

    Oversee 3rd party testing (Advanced Micro, HRIPT, PET, HM, Flash Point, etc.)

    Document filling processes & specifications

    Collaborate with PD to develop new formulations/procedures according to customers' briefs, ensuring formula compliance to industry standards while maintaining cost objectives and using best-in-class raw materials & suppliers. Remain current on the latest raw material trends & innovation technologies. Prepare and execute formula stability studies & evaluations for aesthetics, feel & performance. Review all stability issues.

    Responsible for procuring lab raw materials and entering technical data and specifications into Formulator Software. Stay abreast of upcoming regulatory and/or raw material issues. Manage, review, and enter all formula information, specifications, analytics, and procedures into Formulator including preliminary MFG and filling process.

    Provide support to the manufacturing team for rm replacements, PH/viscosity/color adjustments and oversee all first production batches and line trials. Assist analytical lab with GC tests & train lab technicians when needed. Assist the Procurement Department in quickly identifying replacement suppliers and/or raw materials.

    Job Requirements

    Degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or related field

    Minimum 5 years of industry formulating experience

    Experienced with laboratory equipment and testing processes

    Well organized, pro-active, and hard-working

    Good communication (verbal, written), problem-solving, interpersonal, and computer skills
