Hutch and Waldo are after a friendly and guest focused server who has experience in high-volume and face-paced environments. This role will suit a knowledgeable hospitality professional who has a passion for coffee and cafe culture. We are currently looking for a Barista/POS position at our Gramercy location on 77 Irving Pl. Candidates must have weekend availability and must be willing to work from 6:30am - 4:30pm on a regular basis.

Reporting directly to the general manager of the site, you will help push the cafe to a new level of efficient service while delivering an excellent product by not cutting any corners.
Our venues literally pump - so to be part of the team you will need to be experienced in high volume and not be afraid to challenge yourself on a daily basis. We don’t compromise when it comes to memorable service, outstanding quality, and products.
Responsibilities:
check stock levels of pastries, sandwiches and soft drinks
make every guests you come in contact with feel like they are the only one for the day
change up your greeting when it is busy to not seem robotic for guests
being aware on when to ask for help and know how to shift gears when needed
friendly not familiar is the best approach
repeat orders back to guests before asking for their name
don't turn your back to guests when possible. Be engaging and smile
jump down the line with the handheld when there seems to be a stall
we are very dog friendly so make sure they feel part of the community also
deliver product excellence with confidence and not cutting corners
learn what menu items can be amended or substituted
use personal knowledge in recommending items to guests
be confident in allergy and dietary requests from guests
learn about roasts, origins and history of our current product
communicate with management on when items are 86d through service
Qualifications:
We are looking for experienced candidates to have:
Minimum of 2+ years of hospitality experience
Must be able to lift 40+ lbs.
Experience working in a similar venue with multiple offerings will be highly valued
Fun & energetic personality
Has a passion for coffee and a dynamic beverage program
Focus on bringing a team together for a common purpose
A thirst for problem-solving and thrives on going over and above
Knowledge and skills to develop staff around the product, service skills, team culture, and guest relationships
Understands what cafe culture is and wants to add to the conversation
Barista and Coffee experience is a huge plus!
