Job Description

BBH Entertainment is the development arm of the global creative agency Bartle Bogle Hegarty (BBH). In addition to developing traditional unbranded TV, film and digital projects; the agency helps its clients learn how to own and co-create IP in partnership with Hollywood talent, and in turn monetize that IP.  

BBH USA’s LA office is looking for a HEAD OF DEVELOPMENT to drive its entertainment offering in the branded and unbranded space. This leader would be responsible for enhancing BBH’s reputation for creativity and the power of difference. The ideal candidate is someone that can spearhead one of the most innovative parts of the BBH business, and the industry at large as well as develop new creative, commercial and partnership models within the entertainment space. This position would report directly to the President of BBH USA. 

We intend for this role to start off as remote but will eventually join the rest of the agency in our LA office once it is safe to do so. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Work closely with the EVP / GM and Chief Creative Officer to:

  • Drive business growth and creative excellence for BBH Entertainment by maximizing the potential of existing/new projects and existing/new relationships
  • Continue to define a unique positioning and role for BBH Entertainment within the entertainment ecosystem, based on industry and category knowledge and insight
  • Review the existing entertainment strategy and process, and refine, re-build & implement this at pace

• Manage and build a team of development/entertainment managers (unscripted and scripted) to support you, to implement your vision and to grow the active development slate

• Build on the pipeline of creative and commercial opportunities by identifying projects in Hollywood that command BBH strategy, insight & ideas via constant scouting with the key talent agencies, networks, studios and streamers 

• Build relationships with production partners to co-create entertainment properties

• Build relationships with existing BBH brands & clients as well as open up new brand partnerships 

• Oversee all BBH Entertainment creative projects, including developing and packaging each opportunity to give it the best chance of success 

• Identify IP and relevant source material and build relationships with creators, networks and talent

• Ideate original IP and formats around network mandates and brand briefs 

• Develop relationships with C-Suite clients and brand partners

• Create thought leadership pieces in the branded entertainment space, and be a PR driver for BBH Entertainment

• Create pitch materials alongside project producers (client facing and network facing)

Qualifications

• 10+ years experience of developing and producing entertainment content, deep knowledge of & relationships with Hollywood, from networks to studios and production companies. 
• Strong creative sensibility and a passion for innovation in the entertainment world (e.g. experience with new distribution models, new business models including brand partnerships, streaming and digital). 
• Past experience of successfully packaging & selling entertainment properties is essential, and experience working with brands in the entertainment space is preferred. Knowledge of media strategy, placement, and buying is a bonus.

• Convert a minimum of two net new projects (developed, packaged & commissioned) within your first year
• Drive business growth through new and existing relationships 
• Solidify BBH Ent’s creative excellence through enhancing existing projects and refreshing the slate 
• Increased press exposure and awards opportunities for both new and existing projects
