Overview:We are seeking a competent and detail-oriented Medical Billing Specialist to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the timely and accurate submission of medical claims to insurance companies, government programs, and other third-party payers.
Key Responsibilities:- Reviewing patient records and ensuring that billing information is accurate and complete- Verifying insurance coverage, and benefits and obtaining authorization as required prior to submitting claims- Procedures using CPT codes, as well as other medical codes as needed- Submitting claims electronically or through paper claims, using standard billing software or other systems as required by payers- Following up on unpaid claims, including appeals and collections of unpaid balances- Recording and maintaining accurate records of billing and collection activities- Keeping up-to-date with changes to insurance regulations, coding requirements, and industry trends- Providing excellent customer service by answering patient and insurance company inquiries related to billing and reimbursement- Collaborating with clinical staff to ensure accurate and complete patient records- Participating in team meetings, training, and other relevant activities as required
Requirements:- High school diploma or equivalent; associate or bachelor's degree in healthcare or related field preferred- At least two years of experience in medical billing, coding or related field- Working knowledge of CPT codes- Familiarity with major insurance programs, such as Tricare, Medicaid, and private payers- Proficiency in using billing software and computer systems- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail- Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills- Ability to work independently and as part of a team under pressure and with deadlines- Certification in medical billing and coding preferred
Physical Requirements:- The ability to sit for prolonged periods in a busy pediatric office.- The ability to perform computer-based work for extended periods- The ability to communicate clearly with patients, insurance providers, and colleagues.
Job Type: Full-time
Salary: $18.00 to $20.00 /hour
