Summary:
The Manager of Patient Safety is responsible for the development and delivery of patient safety-related training programs. Other responsibilities include curriculum development, presentations, coordination, and evaluation of the safety training programs for Rogers Behavioral Health System.
- In conjunction with Rogers’ leadership, conduct systematic needs assessments throughout the organization related to personal safety of patient as well as environmental safety in clinical as well as non-clinical departments.
- Conduct facility surveillance rounds with leadership to make assessments and develop training and supervision models to ensure patient safety and audit outcomes.
- In conjunction with leadership, create and implement a physical environment plan that assures patient safety.
- Develop curriculum, courses, modules, lesson plans, and learning objectives related to patient safety.
- Create varied learning activities, utilizing on-line learning and other uses of technology.
- Provide ‘train the trainer’ for select patient to expand training resources.
- Responsible for scheduling patient safety associates and emergency on call schedule.
- Responsible for video review of restraints and seclusions audits and re-education when necessary.
- Design, develop, and update evaluation instruments including assignments and tests to determine effectiveness of training programs.
- Partner with approved consultants related to hospital training programs.
- Assess and validate trainee performance evaluation instruments.
- Develop guidelines and standards to meet professional development training needs and monitor the implementation of the training and outcomes following training.
- Utilize Adult Learning Principles, including varied training methods to achieve appropriate learning levels (knowledge/comprehension/application).
- In conjunction with leadership, observe and evaluate the progress of trainees, providing mentoring, supervision, counseling, and planning for individual trainee improvement.
Education/Training Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in healthcare or related field
- Three to five years leadership experience required criminal justices, psychology, or healthcare management
- A minimum of five years healthcare experience in patient safety, risk, and/or quality required. Healthcare experience should be recent and within a clinical setting
