The OR Registered Nurse is responsible for the nursing activities related to care of the patient experiencing an operative or other invasive procedure. The staff member can expect to care for adult patients, including the older adult through geriatric. Our scope of service includes gastroenterology, ophthalmology, and general surgery.
Required Skills
EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
- Current California Nursing License
- Current BLS, ACLS and PALS
- Minimum of 2 years experience in OR
- Strong knowledge of surgical procedures and management of the surgical patient
- Understand principles of aseptic technique and their implementation
- Ability to care for patients with changing medical priorities and ability to respond accordingly
- Knowledge base to recognize, evaluate, solve problems and correct errors
- Knowledgeable of policies and procedures specific to operating room nurse
- Ability to quickly adapt to changing condition of the patient when needed
- Excellent teaching skills
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Demonstrate strong professional and ethical behavior
- Possess the ability to deal tactfully with patients, families, physicians, and employees
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, physicians and fellow employees. (TEAMWORK)
- Strong customer service skills
- Possess the ability to work independently and prioritize responsibilities
- Demonstrate accountability, creativity, innovation and be receptive to change
- Possess basic knowledge of Performance Improvement ideology
Required Experience
Previous experience working in an Ambulatory Surgery Center preferred.
Bilingual a plus - Vietnamese, Spanish, Korean
