    PIH Health is a nonprofit, regional healthcare network that serves approximately 3 million residents in the Los Angeles County, Orange County and San Gabriel Valley region. The fully integrated network is comprised of PIH Health Hospital - Whittier, PIH Health Hospital - Downey and PIH Health Good Samaritan Hospital, 27 outpatient medical locations, a multi-specialty medical (physician) group, home healthcare services and hospice care, as well as heart, cancer, women’s health, urgent care and emergency services.

    Under the direction of the Staffing Office Manager, this position works independently in conjunction with the Hospital Manager/Supervisor on duty to ensure adequate direct patient care staffing for inpatient areas of centralized and decentralized units.  The Staffing Coordinator reviews future scheduling, no less than 24 hours in advance and works with the Hospital Manager/Supervisor, and Nursing Manager of specific units, if a unit is drastically under or over staffed.  In addition to staffing, the Staffing Coordinator tracks nursing care hours, staffing records, sick calls, participates in decedent affairs and registry tracking.

    • Ability to read, write, speak and understand English fluently
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Excellent interpersonal skills
    • Basic phone skills, with good etiquette (able to handle busy telephones with multiple lines)
    • Good organizational skills
    • Good computer skills; able to navigate in Word and Excel, typing at 50 WPM (minimum)
    • Ability to work independently without direct supervision

    Required Experience

    REQUIRED:

     

    REQUIRED:

    • High school diploma or equivalent
    • Basic knowledge of medical terminology, or complete a medical terminology course within six months of hire

     

    PREFERRED:

     

    • 1 year previous experience in an acute hospital or medical setting, or in a clerical setting
    • Ability to read, write, speak and understand Spanish
