    MUST BE ABLE TO TRAIN ON 1ST SHIFT.

    JOB SUMMARY: The Utility Bander/Baler will safely operate the baler, bander, and corresponding equipment including setup, operation, cleanup, and recommending improvements to production.

    JOB FUNCTIONS: Job functions include, but are not limited to the following:

    • Ensure proper placement of tags and correct stacking patterns.
    • Make neat units with proper number of bands on each unit.
    • Maximize the utilization of equipment by operating the machinery at available capacity and speed.
    • Bale waste paper from printing press.
    • Stretch-wrap all printing press loads.
    • Stage finished material in warehouse.
    • Communicate required information to co-workers and manager.
    • Maintain a clean and safe work environment at all times.
    • Follow safety rules and regulations.
    • Follow department and company policies and procedures.
    • Report all food safety and quality problems to the Operator, Department Lead, Manager or Quality Team.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    SCHEDULE REQUIREMENTS:

    • Schedules are up to 8-hour shifts Mondays – Fridays. However, employees must have the ability to work alternate schedules and overtime that may include early mornings, nights, and/or weekends and be punctual while doing so.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

    • Standing, depending on changing job assignment, for extended periods.
    • Awkward and/or repetitive movements
    • Ability to bend/stoop, squat, crawl, climb, reach above shoulder level, kneel, balance, push/pull, twist and perform robotic motions continuously
    • Lifting up to 50 lbs. continuously and up to 75 lbs. frequently
    • Requires use of both feet on a continuous basis
    • Requires use of both hands for simple grasping, firm grasping, fine manipulation and repetitive actions on a continuous basis
    • Ability to read, write, hear, see, speak and have agility on a continuous basis
    • Reading computer screen or other electronic devices
    • Use of various hand and electrical tools and equipment
    • Work in areas of fluctuating temperature
    • PPE required: Steel-toed/safety footwear, Safety Glasses, Hearing Protection, Cut resistant Safety Gloves, Hair Net, Beard Net

    Required Skills

    SKILLS:

    • LANGUAGE SKILLS - Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. Bilingual in English/Spanish is a plus.
    • MATHEMATICAL SKILLS - Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
    • REASONING ABILITY - Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

    EDUCATION / KNOWLEDGE:

    • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent recommended.
    • Ability to follow directions and work well in a team environment.
    • Thorough understanding of or the ability to quickly learn production equipment.

    Required Experience

    BACKGROUND / EXPERIENCE:

    • Prior manufacturing experience required
    • Experience operating hand jacks, electric pallet jacks and forklifts preferred
