  • Responsibilities

    THE STAGE MANAGER/SHOW TECHNICAIN MANAGES DAILY OPERATION OF A PARTICULAR SHOW OR VENUE FOR SEASONAL ENTERTAINMENT PRODUCTIONS.  ADDITIONAL DUTIES MAY BE ASSIGNED.  MANAGEMENT RETAINS THE DISCRETION TO CHANGE OR ADD TO THE DUTIES OF THIS POSITION AT ANY TIME.

    • Communicate all rehearsal schedules to cast and crew, whether before or after opening
    • Assemble and maintain the Prompt Book which is defined as the accurate playing text and stage business, together with such cue sheets, plots, daily records, etc. as are necessary for the actual technical and artistic operation of the production
    • Work with the Director and the department leadership, during rehearsal and after opening
    • Assume active responsibility for the form and discipline of rehearsal and performance, and be the executive instrument on the technical running of each performance
    • Maintain the artistic intentions of the Director and the Producer after opening, to the best of his/her ability, including calling correctional rehearsals of the company when necessary and preparation of the understudies, replacements and swings
    • Keep such records as are necessary to advise the Producer on matters of attendance
    • Assist with installing and operating lighting, sound, and A/V equipment, troubleshooting, procurement, rigging, running boar trands, inventory, and striking
    • Help facilitate all segments of productions to help ensure quality and efficiency of theatrical productions
    • Procure, install, test and run lighting, sound, and A/V equipment for all stages to specific protocol
    • Assemble new lighting and sound equipment
    • Communicate with Lead Tech, in technical terms, areas of need, status, and show program information
    • Clean all areas including theatre spaces and work spaces
    • All other duties as assigned

    While performing the duties of this job the employee is required to stand for long periods of time.  The employee must be able to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms.  The employee is frequently required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.  The employee is frequently required to talk and hear.  The employee must occasionally lift and/or move carry, push, or pull at least 20 lbs.  Specific vision requirements for this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to focus and night vision.  Must be able to take directional cues directly or indirectly.

    Required Skills

    • Must be able to work days, nights, weekends, holidays and long, irregular hours as needed
    • Must be able to lift and move 50+ lbs.
    • Must understand dynamics of theatrical environments
    • Must have excellent communication skills
    • Must have excellent attention to detail
    • Must understand basic lighting and/or sound software programs
    • Must have the ability to maintain a high level of work load
    • Must be able to understand the dynamics of EQing a room and spatial dynamics
    • Must be able to work in fast paced environment, handling many tasks at one time
    • Must be able to work in a creative environment involving entertainers

    Required Experience

    • HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA OR EQUIVALENT EDUCATION PREFERRED
    • SOME COLLEGE OR EQUIVALENT EDUCATION EMPHASIZING IN THEATER PREFERRED
    • MINIMUM OF 1 YEAR EXPERIENCE OR EXPOSURE TO THEATER OR PERFORMANCE INDUSTRY REQUIRED
    • PROFESSIONAL STAGE MANAGEMENT CREDITS PREFERRED
    • EXPERIENCE WITH LIGHTING RIGS, CATWALKS, AND WORKING HIGH ABOVE THE GROUND
    • EXPERIENCE AS A SOUND AND/OR LIGHT TECHNICIAN PREFERRED
  • Qualifications
