Role Description:
The Area Operations Manager is responsible for ensuring all sales and operations functions within the studio deliver an exceptional member experience and create a positive team member environment, contributing to the studio's financial success.
With support from the Director of Operations, the Area Manager will recruit, hire, train, develop and manage a team of strong Studio Advisors, providing leadership and direction to help them achieve their goals. This position upholds company policies and standards, ensuring a clean, friendly, and well-maintained studio.
The Area Operations Manager is accountable for meeting studio targets in member services, cleanliness, revenue, and retention, while ensuring the facility is well-equipped and provides a safe environment for both members and employees.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Staffing & Development
Team Management
Manage a fully engaged and high-performing Studio Advisor team that aligns with company values and goals.
Recruit, hire, train, develop and manage a strong team that delivers on company goals and reflects its values.
Train, coach, and conduct planning sessions and performance reviews. Recognize strong performance and administer discipline as necessary.
Conduct regular studio meetings to review performance, offer direction, and provide motivation and guidance toward achieving individual and company goals.
Training & Oversight
Implement, supervise, and direct regular training to ensure all Studio Advisors are proficient in operations, sales, and standard operating procedures.
Oversee team recognition programs, such as employee appreciation, birthdays, and milestone celebrations.
Ensure the success of Studio Advisors by providing oversight and training in sales techniques to achieve sales goals.
Partner with Lead Studio Advisors to handle client escalations.
Operations Management
Studio Maintenance & Environment
Monitor the studio’s appearance, ensure that issues are resolved quickly, and maintain a clean, friendly, and well-maintained environment.
Oversee Lead Studio Advisors weekly machine review and communicate any issues to Studio Operations Manager.
Ensure that retail items are optimally merchandised, displayed, and that inventory is properly tracked.
Scheduling & Attendance
Schedule Studio Advisors within designated studios.
Manage Studio Advisor time and attendance, and approve time cards on a bi-weekly basis.
Conduct daily reviews of the schedule to determine if any Studio Advisor shifts need adjustments to align with current class schedules.
Conduct a weekly check for any private classes on the schedule.
Ensure that the SA on shift is aware and prepared for private classes or in-studio events (champagne, sales opportunities, etc..)
Sales & Marketing Support
Collaboration & Strategy
Collaborate with the Marketing Manager and Partnerships to drive sales through outside lead generation and onsite events.
Partner with the Marketing Manager to create and plan marketing strategies and monthly promotions to drive sales.
Regularly review sales reports from designated studios to analyze trends, identify gaps, and develop strategies to increase sales.
Administrative Duties
Reporting & Communication
Manage monthly studio audits.
Partner with the Director of Operations on monthly Studio Advisor newsletters and general team announcements.
Prepare reports and communications regarding studio operations as needed, including supply logs, maintenance logs, production reports, and utilization reports.
Regularly monitor NetGym chats, studio email inboxes, and voicemails to answer questions and help resolve client issues.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience
2-3 years of management experience supervising 5+ employees
2-3 years of broad experience in retail, hospitality, or operations industries
2-3 years of experience with Mindbody software
Experience managing P&L and trend reports, or demonstrated math and analytical skills

Physical Requirements
Ability to be in-studio at least 4 days per week (between Brentwood, Green Hills, Gulch & Sylvan Supply)
Ability to move around studio floors and rooms, and handle studio paperwork (reviewing, revising, and creating documents).
Ability to communicate effectively with employees, members, and the public.
Ability to lift and move items weighing up to 25 lbs.
The role occasionally requires sitting, walking, kneeling, and reaching with hands and arms.
Work Environment & Availability Requirements
Work Schedule
Minimum of 40 hours per week.
Be in the studio four days a week alongside their teams, focusing on training, developing, and supporting them.
Available to cover additional Studio Advisor shifts as needed, within the 40-hour work week.
The work schedule must be flexible to ensure all studios operate safely, professionally, and profitably at all times.
The Area Operations Manager may be required to be in the studio or on-call one weekend per month.
Availability
As a primary local representative of the business, the Area Operations Manager must be available via cell phone, text, and email at all times in case of an emergency at the studio.
If unavailable at specific times (e.g., taking a weekend off), arrangements must be made with direct reports or the Director of Operations to ensure on-call coverage for emergencies.
Work Environment
The noise level in the studio environment can be loud.
Ability to work a varied schedule, including frequent extended workdays and weekends, may be required to support the needs of the business.
Travel:
Must have a personal vehicle to travel between studios.
