Responsibilities
Reconciling financial transactions: Accurately entering all financial transactions, including receipts, into our accounting software, QuickBooks.
Maintaining and reconciling accounts: Keeping the general ledger balanced and performing regular reconciliations of credit card and bank statements, and accounts payable, and accounts receivable to ensure accuracy.
Preparing financial statements: Generating essential reports like balance sheets and income statements, which provide a snapshot of the company's financial health.
Assisting with tax preparation: Collaborating with accountants to gather the necessary financial information and ensuring compliance with tax laws and regulations.
Monitoring budgets and expenses: Tracking expenses against budgets and highlighting any deviations or opportunities for cost savings.
Qualifications
Detail-oriented and accurate: Bookkeepers work with precise financial data, so meticulous attention to detail is crucial to avoid errors.
Proficient in accounting software: Familiarity and expertise with common accounting programs such as QuickBooks.
Strong mathematical and analytical skills: Bookkeepers need to be comfortable with numbers and able to identify and resolve discrepancies in financial data.
Understanding of bookkeeping principles: A solid grasp of bookkeeping best practices and potentially, depending on the role, Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) or other relevant accounting frameworks.
Excellent communication and organizational skills: Clear communication with clients, vendors, and colleagues, along with strong organizational skills to manage financial records and deadlines, are essential.
