DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Program Director is responsible for overall leadership and management of HomePlus, a permanent, supportive housing program that follows a strength-based, harm reduction-oriented model of case management, crisis intervention and overall client wellness services that are consistent with BRC's mission. HomePlus is a growing program with a current capacity of 370 tenant/clients in scattered site apartments located in the Bronx, Brooklyn and Manhattan and serves individuals who are managing severe and persistent mental illness and/or substance abuse disorders, mostly of whom are formerly homeless or referred from state mental health hospitals.
The responsibilities of this position include oversight of the development and delivery of all case management and clinical services to ensure they are provided in a professional and clinically sound manner; management of all aspects of apartment identification, leasing, and maintenance through effective coordination with landlords, brokers and other housing providers; effective and regular liaison with other agency service providers, including state hospitals and centers; ensuring compliance with all regulatory and contractual obligations, including serving as the primary program contact with applicable staff at New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, and New York State Office of Mental Health and the Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services; and ensuring outstanding program leadership and supervision of staff located in offices in the Bronx and Brooklyn. Additionally, the Program Director will provide 24-hour on-call management and support as well as emergency first aid and CPR assistance as needed. Responsibilities will include other related duties as assigned.
HOURS:
Full-time position 37.5 hours per week
Monday - Friday, 9:00 am - 5:30pm (24 Hour On-Call)
QUALIFICATIONS:
A minimum of five years of management experience working with homeless, mentally ill, and substance-abusing individuals is required. Experience in an apartment-based transitional or permanent housing program is essential. A graduate degree in social work or closely related field is preferred.

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:
BRC maintains 390 supported apartments throughout Manhattan, Brooklyn and the Bronx through the HomePlus program. These apartments are dedicated for formerly homeless individuals with a history of mental illness and/or substance abuse, and are funded by a variety of state and city mental health agencies, including the NYS Office of Mental Health, the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, the US Department of Housing and Urban Development, and the NYS Office of Alcohol and Substance Abuse Services. BRC's HomePlus operations have grown significantly in recent years, including 131 units for substance abusing, chronically homeless individuals that were brought on line in 2008 and 65 units of scattered-site housing for formerly homeless individuals with a history of mental illness that were brought on line in 2009 and 2010.
