  • Responsibilities

    DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Position is considered "essential personnel" and is required to provide administrative, management, individual support and various other duties, as required, during and outside normal working hours and duties associated with emergencies, and scheduled and unscheduled events. Manage other facility related projects under the supervision of the Assistant Director.
    • Ensures that all fire and life safety systems and related equipment are fully functional and code compliant. Ensures that fire drills are conducted, as required, participates in drill execution as needed, and to identify and address potential or actual weaknesses in response time or fire and life safety systems and related equipment.
    • Reports to Assistant Director all FDNY fire safety code compliance concerns observed while making rounds throughout the entire facility.
    • Develops, maintains and implements all Fire Safety Plans and Emergency Action Plans, including building specific fire drill and evacuation procedures and Building Information Cards, in accordance with the NYC Fire Prevention Code. Maintain all fire records and logs as required by relevant codes.
    • Works closely with Assistant Director and others to develop and provide recommendations for building fire and life safety emergency systems for all capital construction projects, including new construction and renovations.
    • Assists in the interpretation of codes, regulations and City/State fire and safety policies and help ensure their implementation.
    • Responds to all building fire alarms and emergencies while on duty and is the primary interface with FDNY.
    • Oversees the Fire Alarm System Maintenance and Fire Extinguisher Vendor contracts and consults with them on day-to-day operational issues, as necessary.
    • Front Desk responsibilities consisting of access control/key card production and receiving resident/tenant mail for distribution.
    • Related duties as assigned.

     

    HOURS:

    Full-time, 37.5 hours per week

    • Friday; 3:00pm - 11:30pm; Saturday; 3:00pm - 7:30am; Sunday; 11:00pm - 3:30pm


    QUALIFICATIONS:

    Must have at least three (3) years' full-time work experience in one or more of the following fields: firefighting or other public safety emergency response employment; any fire safety-related employment, including code enforcement, fire safety inspection, fire prevention, or emergency preparedness; the design, installation, operation or maintenance of building fire protection, electrical, plumbing, heating, ventilation, or air conditioning systems, or other building system regulated by the construction codes; or equivalent experience acceptable to the NYC Fire Department;

    Must be able to effectively collaborate with fire safety personnel in local, state, and federal agencies, as well as with BRC administration, personnel and clients. Candidate must have F89 certificate. Be immediately eligible for the Certificate of Fitness as a Fire Life Safety Director pending scheduling of the on-site testing by FDNY.

    High School diploma preferred.
