Nature-Based Preschool Co-Teacher
Job Description:
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Teacher to join our nature-based preschool program. As a Teacher, you will play a pivotal role in creating an enriching learning environment that fosters curiosity, exploration, and connection with nature for young children.
Responsibilities:
Collaborate with Co-Teachers to plan and implement developmentally appropriate curriculum and activities that integrate nature-based learning experiences.
Facilitate outdoor exploration, nature walks, gardening, and other hands-on activities to promote children's understanding and appreciation of the natural world.
Create a safe and nurturing environment where children can freely explore and engage with the outdoor environment while fostering a sense of wonder and curiosity.
Support children's social-emotional development by fostering positive relationships, conflict resolution skills, and empathy through nature-based activities and group interactions.
Observe and assess children's development and progress, and communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding their child's growth, achievements, and challenges.
Maintain a clean, organized, and environmentally sustainable classroom and outdoor play areas, ensuring safety standards are met at all times.
Collaborate with colleagues to develop and maintain positive relationships with families, and participate in parent communication, conferences, and events as needed.
Stay informed about best practices in nature-based education, early childhood development, and relevant health and safety guidelines.
Complete Conscious Discipline training and implement this method within the classroom.
Qualifications: education in Early Childhood Education, Environmental Education, or related field preferred.
Previous experience working with young children in a nature-based or outdoor education setting.
Passion for and knowledge of nature and the environment, with a commitment to promoting sustainability and conservation.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, parents, and community members.
Patience, creativity, and a positive attitude, with the ability to adapt and problem-solve in dynamic outdoor environments.CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
Ability to meet ODJFS state licensing requirements, including background check and health screenings.
