MIDDLE SCHOOL TEACHER JOB DESCRIPTION

BJP seeks a driven and passionate teacher to join our mission for the 2021-2022 school year.  This person must not only be a classroom leader but also serve as a role model for our students as we mold them in the Jesuit tradition of becoming ‘men and women for others’. 

BJP is a middle school that serves low-income students in the East Flatbush neighborhood of Brooklyn.  It was founded in 2003 in the model of the Nativity School tradition.  The school offers single-gender classes for boys and girls.  The students are required to stay for an extended day and participate in our summer camp program.

Course load would include two subjects (four class periods a day).  Subjects that best fit the candidate’s expertise will be taken into account when scheduling.  Currently, there are openings for the humanities: ELA, reading, and social studies.  In addition to teaching, the position also includes homeroom leadership, advisory, and extended day activities that make the position full-time.  Other duties as assigned by principal.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS • A Bachelor’s Degree and three years of teaching experience is preferred • A strong commitment to the values and principles of Catholic education • Willingness to participate in Jesuit spiritual and professional development programs • Superior communication skills and the ability to be a positive contributor to the team
