    Manager of School Intervention Services (40 hours, non-exempt) Broader Urban Involvement and Leadership Development (BUILD, Inc) is seeking a committed, self-motivated, enthusiastic professional to join its wonderful team in the role of Manager of School Intervention Services. JOB SUMMARY The Manager of School Intervention Services, as part of the BUILD Intervention Team, is responsible for supervising Intervention Specialists in schools serving youth who are off track, street and gang involved as well as youth involved in the juvenile justice system by providing support, advocacy, opportunity, and community resources to prevent participants' entry or return to the Cook County Juvenile Temporary Detention Center (CCJTDC). The Coordinator will work closely with other program support staff to ensure that youth are integrated into other programs to dissuade them from recidivating and/or returning to gangs, destructive activities to themselves, others, and community assets thus bringing them in contact with community resources to channel their behavior toward positive and rewarding goals. The Manager of School Intervention Services reports directly to the Director of Core Programs JOB RESPONSIBILITIES Leadership Direct oversight of Intervention Specialist assigned Provides direct support for school enrollment and academic assistance Coordinates intervention services in the schools, for designated community Responds to violence in communities through outreach, community organizing and canvassing Works collaboratively with school partners Compiles reports and ensure compliance of team members. Cross trains staff on positive engagement with at-risk population Leads program planning activities with the team. Informs appropriate BUILD team of program progress and challenges, making recommendations and seeking advice as necessary. Meets with team weekly to discuss the youth in case management service Youth Development Exemplifies the mission, vision and values of the agency. Helps to identify and recruit participants for intervention services and works with intervention Specialists to assign. Interacts with participants by establishing a professional relationship while in and out of the Juvenile Detention Center, community and school liaisons. Ensures that youth who are disconnected from school receive the support necessary to re-enroll in an academic institution or GED program. Ensures that youth receive ongoing home and/or school visits upon participant's enrollment and/or release from the CCJTDC and maintains regular ongoing contacts (individual and group) with participants in his/her caseload for a minimum of one year. Ensures that youth are involved/encouraged to participant in leadership development opportunities. Facilitates and provides learning spaces for participants such as peace/talking circles. Provides informal individual and group counseling. Ensures that all Intervention Specialists provide needs assessments and refer participants to appropriate services within BUILD and their communities. Ensures that Intervention Specialists maintain a positive adult mentor/ mentee relationship while reinforcing positive behavior. Identifies positive community resources and/or adults to create a positive support network for the participant. Performs other job-related duties as requested, required and/or assigned. Documentation and Competencies Ensures that Intervention Specialists recruits and maintains a caseload of youth. Ensures that Intervention Specialists record case notes into internal and external online databases on a weekly basis and record intakes and assessments into the system as needed. Ensures that Intervention Specialists update caseloads on a monthly basis and submit information on monthly report. Ensures that Intervention Specialists collect baseline and year-end data on academic, interpersonal and pro social behaviors. Submits statistics and reports on a monthly basis and/or as needed. Maintains File Compliance as required and compliance with internal Efforts to Outcomes (ETO) Communication and relationship management Collaborates with a variety of resources (including judges, probation officers, attorneys, schools, agencies, and potential employers) in order to be an advocate for each participant. Identifies positive adult/youth influences to create a stronger support network for the participant. Models appropriate communication skills and tools matched to the needs of various audiences and purposes. Attends the Parent Network meetings of the Nancy B. Jefferson Alternative School and other events as appropriate. Represents the agency to various publics to broaden community awareness and support, interpreting the agency's programs and services in a positive way. In addition to the responsibilities listed above, all BUILD, Inc. employees are responsible for the following: Participate in agency outreach and recruitment events, including evenings and weekends. Participate in civic engagement activities that advance the mission of BUILD, Inc. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications and Competencies Excellent management, public speaking, writing, and interpersonal skills. Bachelor's Degree required. 5+ years of experience in youth development Experience supervising staff Proficiency in Word and Excel required. Flexible time needed for case management, and special events. Highly organized to set priorities, develop a work schedule, and monitor progress towards goals. Ability to build positive working relationships with others, both internally and externally to achieve the goals of the organization. Able to apply strategic and creative thinking, while being persistent, motivated and energetic, along with the ability to work in a detail-oriented fashion. Ability to pass a criminal record, Chicago Public Schools, and child abuse/neglect registry check. A passion for the mission of BUILD, Inc. Must have a valid Driver's License, access to reliable transportation and willingness to travel locally. Must be able to provide proof of a COVID-19 Vaccine.
