    Job Description

    Our client, a private investment firm in San Francisco, is looking for a Tax Supervisor join their team. The firm manages $5B+ of money for a family, from the investments to the bill pay. They are a values-oriented group that treats their employees very well with generous benefits.  This role will support both the tax compliance for the families and they are looking for someone specifically with family office and/or HNW taxation experience. RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • The review and preparation of federal and State income tax returns, including various other states and other related compliance returns for the following entities: 
      • High Net Worth individuals
      • Complex Trusts
      • Private Foundations 
      • Limited Liability companies
      • Some Partnerships & S Corporations
    • The Tax Supervisor has primary responsibility for controlling and the detail review of various tax and special client projects prepared by the Tax Specialists staff and to timely submit the projects to the Senior Tax Manager or Senior Tax Director for final review.
    • Perform various tax planning and research, including quarterly estimated tax forecasts and other projects that involve a high degree of complexity, as well as respond to correspondence and information requests from various government authorities.
    • Gather information and prepare responses to IRS and FTB notices.
    • Participate in federal and state income tax audits by assisting with gathering of requested documents and reports.
    • Assist on special projects in the tax compliance and accounting areas as needed.
    • Must be able to work flexible and possibly extended hours in order to complete filings, projects, and         work assigned.
    • Prepare and record year-end tax true-up adjustments for the accounting system.
    • Prepare and record year-end income for Partnerships and S Corporation
    • The following contacts, both internal and external, must be maintained to successfully fulfill the requirements of this job.
      • Maintain close internal contact with all members of the Client Services group, as necessary.  
      • Externally, work closely with family members and their personal and office staffs, as necessary.   Work with representatives of the family, including outside legal counsel, as needed.

    REQUIREMENTS:

    • Bachelor’ s degree in accounting from a four-year college or university 
    • Eight years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience. 
    • Certified Public Account (CPA) license preferred.  
    • Good working knowledge of Excel and Microsoft Word and Prosystem Tax Software. 
    • Must have excellent verbal and written communications skills. 
    • Must be able to demonstrate extensive working knowledge of high net worth individual, complex trusts, and private foundation tax laws.  
    • Need to have working knowledge of partnership & S Corporation tax laws.  
    • Must be able to demonstrate knowledge of professional accounting and financial reporting systems gained through specialized education and/or work experience.  
    • Must have hands-on experience with personal computers as applied to accounting, tax and financial reporting systems.  
    • Must be able to demonstrate skill in using independent judgment to solve problems and carry out assigned responsibilities, and an ability to maintain client confidentiality. 
    • Regular attendance within normal business hours to handle day-to- day duties of the position and respond to employee and senior management requests.
