    We are searching for a Global Sourcing Manager for a client here in Kansas City to help them with their growing operations on optimizing and managing supply categories for the client. The right candidate must enjoy working in a fast paced and quickly evolving environment with minimal direction. This position leads the effort to transform the company procurement function to be a strategic and value-added asset for the company’s business while ensuring scalable readiness to support the significant growth of the company.

    With the larger operations team, this key role will be responsible for providing comprehensive supply chain leadership and support to broader operations, manufacturing and external supply network with primary focus on material cost management, strategic sourcing and supplier relationship management. This position participates in the establishment and deployment of standard processes, policies & procedures, taking the necessary steps to assure compliance. This individual shall also perform advanced analytical and consultative activities that report and leverage data for all suppliers and analyze new, innovative cost-effective ways to reduce costs and improve productivity. This individual will also be expected to build and leverage supplier relationships to enable supplier driven innovation ideas.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Develop, plan and execute sourcing strategies that deliver on annual savings targets and improve supplier performance
    • Drives spend and opportunity / risk analyses, prioritizing strategic sourcing opportunities within assigned categories and throughout the company’s environment where applicable
    • Champions the strategic sourcing processes; ensures consistent application of processes; drives strategic thinking within the business
    • Actively seek new sources for existing materials, supplies and vendor services where doing so will improve overall quality, on time delivery, cost reductions, and reliability
    • Manage and lead RFI, RFQ, and RFP planning, preparation and execution processes as necessary
    • Lead negotiations and manage all aspects of the agreements and supplier relationships for assigned categories
    • Implement best practices in procurement and supplier management
    • Actively communicate with other areas of the business to coordinate efforts, look for opportunities to leverage buying power, and share best practices
    • Provide expertise in the area of sourcing and procurement across all functional areas
    • Participate in both short- and long-term strategy discussions concerning applicable categories, and make appropriate recommendations based on general market conditions
    • Support establishing, implementing and monitoring purchasing standards, controls, policies and procedures
    • Prepare various reports including cost savings (comparing results vs. established goals), cost increases, quote/project analysis and other such reports, as needed
    • Actively participate in the annual goals and objectives setting processes, (including stretch targets) in coordination with the company leadership, and manages performance to assure attainment
    • Partners with rest of the operational functional teams to ensure period-over-period process improvements and associate development.
    • Responsible for timely reporting to agreed-on KPIs and presents strategic sourcing plans, activities and successes to the Senior Leadership Team.
    • Supports the development and implementation of enabling procurement / sourcing technologies
    • Drives innovation and a focus on continuous improvement within the supply chain organization

     

    Skill Requirements

    • BA or BS degree preferably in Supply Chain/Operations management, minimum in a business/industrial/engineering related field.
    • 5-10 years of strategic supply chain management
    • Lean Manufacturing background would be preferred but not required
    • Logistics background with trucking and setup of carriers would be desirable
    • Outstanding analytical skills with the ability to use a structured approach to understand, analyze and solve complex problems / issues
    • Ability to develop working partnerships with senior executives across the business and to challenge and influence them to create change
    • Must be able to prove authorization to work in the US without sponsorship
