Job Description
As a Backend Developer, you will work closely with graphics and production teams to develop and maintain server-side applications, APIs, and data pipelines that support real-time graphics workflows. Your work will directly impact the tools used by production teams to build, manage, and deploy dynamic visual content in fast-paced environments such as newsrooms and live shows.
Key Responsibilities
· Develop and maintain backend services and APIs that support real-time graphics tools.
· Collaborate with frontend developers to ensure seamless integration with GUI applications used for graphics creation and playback.
· Work with graphics teams using Viz Engine and Unreal Engine to support data-driven and automated graphics workflows.
· Design and manage databases and caching systems to support high-performance graphics operations.
· Implement CI/CD pipelines and containerized deployments for scalable and reliable infrastructure.
· Participate in the full software development lifecycle: requirements gathering, design, development, QA, deployment, and production support.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
· Proficiency in backend and server-side development: C#, Java, C++
· Experience with databases: MongoDB, Redis
· Familiarity with market data integration and real-time data processing
· Experience with CI/CD tools and platforms: Kubernetes, Docker, Rancher, Argo CD
· IDE experience: VSCode, JetBrains Rider
· Knowledge of API protocols: gRPC, REST, Websockets
· Scripting experience: Go, Bash, Python
· Proficiency with source control and peer coding practices: GitHub
· Understanding of software development lifecycle and agile methodologies
· Comfortable working in Mac/Linux and Windows environments
Preferred Qualifications
· Experience with AI libraries and models: Google Gemini, Chat GPT, Anthropic Claude
· Agile project development experience: Jira
· Familiarity with full stack development: React, Node.js, TypeScript, JavaScript, HTML/CSS
· Exposure to real-time graphics technologies: Viz Engine, Unreal Engine
· Background in newsroom or live show production environments: Avid iNEWS
Additional Information
This position has been designated as hybrid, generally contributing from the office a minimum of three days per week.
This position is eligible for company sponsored benefits, including medical, dental and vision insurance, 401(k), paid leave, tuition reimbursement, and a variety of other discounts and perks.
