Position Summary
The Back of House (BOH) Trainer is responsible for training cultivation and manufacturing personnel in all aspects of compliant product handling, packaging, processing, reconciliation, and sanitation. This position ensures all production and post-harvest activities are performed according to company SOPs, QMS standards, and Missouri DHSS regulations.
Working closely with the Operations Trainer, Quality, and Compliance teams, the BOH Trainer develops and delivers consistent, data-driven training that promotes product integrity, operational efficiency, and regulatory compliance across cultivation and manufacturing operations.
This role serves as a key field liaison between production teams and leadership, ensuring all employees are trained in safe, consistent, and compliant practices that meet both internal and regulatory standards. The BOH Trainer must be capable of performing daily production duties when necessary to support operations and must demonstrate the professionalism, skill, and expertise that warranted their selection for this role.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct on-the-job and classroom-style training for cultivation, processing, packaging, and manufacturing staff. 
- Ensure all BOH training aligns with company SOPs, regulatory requirements, and QMS documentation. 
- Support the rollout of the standardized training curriculum across all cultivation and manufacturing facilities. 
- Assist in developing and maintaining training schedules for new hires, cross-training, and continued professional development. 
- Reinforce compliance in areas such as Metrc data entry, batch traceability, product labeling, sanitation, PPE use, and waste handling. 
- Conduct CAPA-related retraining following deviations, audit findings, or procedural changes. 
- Observe and audit employee performance to verify adherence to SOPs, safety protocols, and QMS standards. 
- Maintain accurate training records, sign-offs, attendance logs, and training evaluation data. 
- Partner with Quality and Compliance teams to update training content as SOPs and regulations evolve. 
- Participate in KPI tracking and reporting, including training completion rates, audit findings, error reductions, and safety metrics. 
- Provide input on process improvement opportunities identified during training or observation. 
- Assist with the development of scalable documentation, job aids, and checklists to ensure consistency across facilities. 
- Collaborate with Operations leadership to standardize processes across all production environments. 
- Assist with daily operational duties when required to maintain workflow, support team needs, or demonstrate best practices during training. 
- Model the highest standards of compliance, quality, and professionalism — demonstrating the expertise and leadership qualities that justified their selection for this role.
**Requirements & Competencies **
- Experience in cannabis cultivation, manufacturing, or quality operations required. 
- Strong working knowledge of Metrc, DHSS manufacturing regulations, and QMS frameworks. 
- Proven ability to train, coach, and mentor staff effectively at all levels. 
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong attention to detail. 
- Knowledge of sanitation protocols, equipment handling, and product traceability. 
- Ability to manage multiple training projects and facility schedules simultaneously. 
- Familiarity with CAPA, deviation management, and audit processes preferred. 
- Experience with LMS platforms or digital learning systems a plus. 
- Highly organized, proactive, and capable of adapting to evolving regulatory environments. 
- Must be willing to travel regularly between corporate, cultivation, and manufacturing sites (minimum 60% field time).
General Requirements
- Must be at least 21 years of age and eligible to work in the State of Missouri. 
- Must maintain a valid Missouri Agent ID and pass all required DHSS background checks. 
- Adhere to all DHSS, Metrc, and company compliance standards. 
- Exhibit integrity, discretion, and professionalism when handling sensitive information. 
- Maintain reliable transportation and valid driver’s license for travel between facilities. 
- Demonstrate professionalism, accountability, and teamwork in all interactions. 
- Capable of working independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, regulated environment. 
- Strong organizational, analytical, and time management skills. 
- Proficiency in Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Drive) and digital documentation platforms. 
- Ability to stand for extended periods and occasionally lift up to 25 lbs.

The BOH Trainer plays a critical role in the deployment and expansion of a standardized training system across the company’s cultivation and manufacturing operations. This includes aligning training content with QMS documentation, establishing performance metrics, and ensuring that all operational processes — from propagation to final packaging — are trained, documented, and repeatable across all facilities.
