Job Summary

Kollins Communications has a challenging opportunity in Ramsey, NJ for a talented individual to become a Backend Developer in our Digital Services department. This role requires a strong focus on software development to build and maintain our custom BrightSign CMS platform. Our ideal candidate is someone who takes extreme pride in their work and wants to develop a career in the digital signage industry that spans professional video production and engineered point-of-sale digital signage systems.

Responsibilities and Duties

• Design, develop, and maintain a custom CMS
• Build scalable backend services to manage and distribute digital signage content
• Integrate CMS functionality with media players, control systems, and network infrastructure
• Troubleshoot and optimize system performance across software and hardware layers
• Support deployment and configuration of integrated signage systems when needed
• Collaborate with internal teams and third-party integrators
• Provide clear documentation and regular progress updates

Qualifications and Skills

• Solid understanding of backend development, APIs, and system architecture
• Ability to troubleshoot and debug across full system stacks
• Strong planning, prioritization, and execution skills
• Experience with Elixir/Erlang or similar is a plus

Required experience:

• Programming/Digital Signage: 3 years

Required education:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or equivalent
