The role
As a Backend Engineer, you will build and scale the services and APIs that power Vale's products, machine platform, and data pipelines.
- Design and build robust, scalable back-end services and APIs
- Own the reliability, performance, and observability of the systems you build
- Collaborate with Front-End Engineers, Data, and Hardware teams to deliver integrated features
- Participate in architecture reviews and contribute to system design decisions
- Write comprehensive tests and participate in code reviews
- Debug and resolve production incidents quickly and with clear communication
- Document systems and APIs thoroughly for internal and external consumers
Qualifications
- Legally authorized to work in the United States
- 4+ years of back-end engineering experience
- Strong proficiency in Python, Go, Node.js, or a comparable back-end language
- Experience designing and building RESTful or GraphQL APIs
- Solid understanding of relational and non-relational database design
- Familiarity with cloud platforms, containerization (Docker/Kubernetes), and CI/CD
Compensation
$135,000 – $180,000 per year
