    Job Description

    WE’RE LOOKING FOR A TRANSPORTATION SAFETY & TRAINING COORDINATOR TO JOIN OUR TEAM HERE AT BADGER BUS LINES.

    The Transportation Training Coordinator coordinates and assists with the company's safety and training program areas relating to transportation, CDL driver (school bus), Special Transport driver, Attendant training and safety procedures/information. In this position you will gain expertise while staying up-to-date in multiple aspects of student transport. The ideal candidate is likely a mid-career and motivated individual with experience in safety/training improvement programs to identify problem areas and recommend sound improvements. Able to effectively communicate with internal staff, new hires, and transportation professionals in developing and implementing techniques to enhance safety and meet safety/training goals and objectives.

    Additionally, Within 60 days of starting, an occupant of this position will have or obtain their Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with 'P' and 'S' endorsements, in order to actively participate in student transportation efforts as necessary. Company-provided CDL training is available.

    RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

    • Assist create/update/maintain school bus training programs for drivers.
    • Work with co-workers in need of retraining or renewals on CDL’s and DOT-medical exams
    • Prepare drivers so that they are familiar with safety rules and procedures.
    • Educate drivers on accident procedures and best practices.
    • Provide appropriate safety meeting programs for drivers.
    • Train co-workers for CDL for School Bus and Passenger endorsements.
    • Assist with various duties or tasks whenever necessary.
    • Assist with the recruiting/hiring process as needed.
    • Assist in evaluating the development and implementation of safety plans and programs.
    • Emphasis is placed on compliance with DOT regulations, policies and procedures, and good driving and safety practices.
    • Evaluate the development and implementation of the school bus safety plans and programs.
    • Interact with new hires and partners to effectively communicate company policy and/or position to others.
    • Consult and/or coordinate with other training/safety staff in the company as needed for best practices.

    QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

    • 1-3 years of transportation or other relevant experience
    • Positive attitude and desire to work as a team player
    • Acceptable Pre-Employment Drug Screen Results
    • Acceptable background check
    • Acceptable driver record
    • Valid Driver's License, with the ability/willingness to obtain a CDL
    • Ability to work proficiently with standard business and transportation software packages
    • Good time management skills
    • Ability to switch smoothly and appropriately between multiple tasks
    • High School/GED
    • Acceptable Pre-Employment Drug Screen Results
    • Acceptable Criminal Background Check Results
