    Job Description

    W.F. Baird & Associates is seeking entry to level marine/coastal engineers with experience in numerical analysis, design, and construction engineering.

    The roles and responsibilities of this position will consist of a variety of assignments that require the application of beginner-to-moderate analytical skills, under the guidance from senior engineers and scientists, including but are not limited to:

    • Observing field construction activities and developing reports summarizing daily activities
    • Ability to study and obtain Airmen Certificate for flying drones in coastal environments
    • Background research and data gathering tasks.
    • Data processing and analysis of metocean and environmental data.
    • Numerical modelling of coastal processes.
    • Data presentation and visualization.
    • Assistance with the preparation of proposals, reports and presentations.
    • Quality Assurance/Quality Control tasks.

  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    • B.S. in Civil, Biological, Environmental, or Coastal Engineering.
    • E.I.T. certification or ability to obtain within 6 months.
    • 0-5 yrs of engineering experience.
    • Strong interest in analysis, design, and implementation related to one or, preferably, more of:
    • Port Infrastructure – port planning, piers, dolphins, bulkheads, heavy lift structures, pipelines, multi and single-buoy moorings, ship loading equipment, and procurement thereof.
    • Ecosystem Restoration – beach restoration, marsh restoration, reefs, adaptive structures.
    • Coastal – shore protection, flood risk reduction infrastructure (levees, gates, walls), living shorelines, restoration.
    • Navigation & Dredging – design of channels and turning basins, analysis of vessel traffic and hazards, dredging, dredged material management.
    • Metocean – modeling and data analysis for waves, tides, currents, storm surges, and meteorological conditions.
    • Ocean Renewable Energy – nearshore and offshore wind, wave, or current generator and support infrastructure foundations, port logistics, procurement.
    • Willingness to travel for several 1-2 week periods domestically and internationally. Occasional assignments may be longer.
    • Open minded attitude regarding learning new analytical and modeling tools.
    • Flexible work style with the ability to meet challenging deadlines and client needs.

    Nice to Have Qualifications:

    • M.S. or M.Eng. in Civil, Biological, Environmental, or Coastal Engineering
    • Construction experience related to the waterfront and coastal projects
    • Broad interest in multiple areas of marine and coastal engineering
    • Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills
