SUMMARY:
Direct the quality systems and procedures for BakeMark plant operations, overseeing the safety and quality of all product lines and assurance of regulatory compliance. Ensure that all processes are current and meet or exceed the applicable regulatory standards. Establish programs to ensure external and internal customers are satisfied with BakeMark products and the professionalism and responsiveness of the Quality team. Continually upgrade and improve manufacturing and laboratory processes and procedures. Manage and develop the Quality staff and ensure a suitable work environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
GENERAL MANAGEMENT
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manages quality staff and is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, training and developing employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees.
FINANCIAL
QUALITY PROCEDURES
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of a BS degree in Food Science and or technical field. Advanced degree preferred. Experience with bakery production and/or distribution environments. Expertise in FDA regulated environment. Demonstrated ability to build and develop quality teams and reduce variation. Direct customer interaction is necessary. To perform this job successfully, an individual should have a thorough, working knowledge of HACCP, SPC, GMP’s, GLP’s, microbiology and food chemistry.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret statistical analysis, blueprints, schematics, control schemes, diagrams, graphs, charts, common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and regulatory documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to effectively present information to employees, top management, and/or public groups.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, probability, statistics, quadratic equations, plane and solid geometry and trigonometry and permutations. Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to define and resolve problems, collects data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, and diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
COMPUTER SKILLS:
General knowledge of internet software; spreadsheet software and word processing software.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Valid driver’s license issued by the state where assigned. Insecticide Application License in state where assigned, or ability to obtain.
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:
Ability to travel up to 25%.
