    Position Summary

    The Baker is responsible for preparing, baking, and finishing a variety of fresh bakery products including breads, pastries, cakes, and specialty items. This role ensures high-quality, visually appealing products while maintaining food safety standards and supporting overall bakery operations.

    Key Responsibilities

    Prepare and bake a variety of products including breads, rolls, muffins, cookies, pastries, and cakes

    Follow and execute recipes with consistency and attention to detail

    Mix, shape, proof, and bake doughs according to production schedules

    Decorate and finish baked goods as needed (icing, glazing, etc.)

    Monitor product quality, freshness, and presentation standards

    Maintain proper inventory levels of ingredients and communicate ordering needs

    Ensure compliance with all food safety and sanitation guidelines

    Keep work areas clean, organized, and safe at all times

    Assist with merchandising and stocking bakery displays

    Provide friendly and helpful customer service when needed

    Qualifications

    Previous baking experience preferred (scratch baking a plus)

    Knowledge of baking techniques, ingredients, and equipment

    Ability to follow recipes and production schedules accurately

    Strong attention to detail and time management skills

    Ability to work early mornings, weekends, and holidays as needed

    Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs

    Preferred Skills

    Experience with artisan breads or specialty baked goods

    Cake decorating experience

    Familiarity with commercial bakery equipment (mixers, ovens, proofers)

    Food safety certification (or willingness to obtain)

    Work Environment

    Fast-paced grocery retail setting

    Early morning shifts typical (production starts before store opening)

    Exposure to heat, flour, and commercial kitchen equipment
