Data Entry Operator
Job Summary
The Front End Processing (Accessioning and Data Entry) department with the accessioning of specimens, the entering of requisitions into the LIS system.
Knowledge and Critical Skills/Expertise
Good clerical, organizational and communication skills.
Basic knowledge of operating non-complex instrumentation.
Competent in addressing department pending lists and finding missing specimens.
Demonstrated ability to follow a series of steps without confusion or error.
Must have the ability to establish work priorities and to handle several tasks for maximum workstation efficiency. Position Requirements (Education, Experience, Licensure/Certifications)
High School Diploma or equivalent
One year experience in a laboratory environment.
Tasks, Duties and Responsibilities
Interacts with physicians, employees and clients in a positive manner consistent with the mission and values of Bako Diagnostics.
Ensure proper accessioning and labeling of all tissue samples.
Process paperwork associated with accessioning and reporting.
Inputs requisition data in a timely and accurate manner into the Laboratory Information System; complies with or assists in the compilation of statistical information for special reports.
Utilizes computerized data entry equipment and various word processing, spreadsheet and file maintenance programs to enter, store and/or retrieve information as requested or otherwise necessary, and summarizes data in preparation of standardized reports.
Maintains confidentiality and adheres to HIPAA regulations.
Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of equipment.
Perform all assigned clerical duties associated with the section and the Histology laboratory.
Resolve pending lists.
10.Find missing samples.
11.Decontaminate work areas.
12.File blocks and slides
13.Ensure all safety, quality control and quality assurance standards are met.
14.Use the laboratory computer system as well as operate PCs.
15.Dispose of biohazardous material and chemical waste.
16.Ensure compliance with all local, federal, CLIA and CAP regulations.
17.Maintain a clean and well-organized work area.
