    Job Description

    Balboa Pet Hospital is an AAHA-accredited small animal practice in San Francisco. We provide preventive, surgical, dental and integrative care to a variety of patients: dogs, cats, pocket pets, rabbits, and exotic pets. We pride ourselves on our dedicated and compassionate team of amazing Veterinarians, Technicians, Assistants, and Customer Service Representatives. We work collaboratively as a team to ensure each pet is cared for utilizing the very best of veterinary medicine. We have a wonderful clientele, and providing an excellent customer experience is a top priority. CLIENT RELATIONS/ADMINISTRATIVE DUTIES: Get to know our clientele and their pets. Answer phones using a multi-line phone system. Record accurate notes in medical records detailing discussions with clients. Schedule appointments according to hospital scheduling guidelines. Screen and route calls to appropriate staff. Maintain a clean environment (following Covid specific protocols). Answer clients’ questions about veterinary services and products, providing knowledgeable advice about wellness, prevention and diseases. Assist clients with scheduling appointments when referred to a specialist. Retrieve, update all records as needed ensuring attachments are scanned into paperless records. Receive specimens that clients bring in for lab analysis, label and take to the lab area and communicate with appropriate technical staff. Foster collaborative relationships with other team members and departments. Discuss the hospital’s financial policies with clients as appropriate. Collect payment when services are rendered, including processing credit cards. Balance sales to receipts at the end of day/shift. Promote ancillary services and retail items and direct clients to our website. SKILLS NEEDED: Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and multi-task. Computer literacy; clerical accuracy. Flexibility and a positive, solution-oriented mindset. Exceptional customer service skills. Empathy, patience and emotional intelligence. Ability to work as a team player. PHYSICAL OBLIGATIONS: Ability to lift patients and carry equipment up to 25 pounds; ability to lift patients or carry equipment over 25 pounds with assistance. Endure sitting, standing and walking on hard floor surfaces for extended periods of time. Take safety precautions for exposure to toxins, drugs, anesthesia and radiation. This is a full -time position, days and hours to be determined by mutual agreement.
