    Job Description

    Position Description Summary

    Lifeguards are primarily responsible for the safety and enjoyment of all pool patrons, in every part of the aquatics area, including all pools, the splash pad, the pool deck, the playground, and cabanas.

    Role & Responsibilities

    • Maintain constant surveillance of pool patrons, ensuring safety and rapid responses

    • Enforce all Club rules and policies in and around the aquatics area, as they pertain to safety

    • Act immediately and appropriately to any emergencies, following set protocols & standards

    • Keep appropriate activity reports, maintaining checklists and logs as instructed

    • Create a memorable experience for all Members, Guest Members, and Guests, continually providing excellent customer service with a high level of professionalism and hospitality

    • Assist with recreational activities, as needed

    • Work synergistically with other lifeguards and recreation staff

    • Ensure that all Members, Guest Members, and Guests receive immediate attention upon arrival/check-in, remembering to be welcoming, smile, make eye contact, and to use their name in conversation

    • Assist the Recreation management team with checking pool chemistry and other related tasks, as directed, maintaining proper logs and adhering to protocol

    • Assist all Members, Guest Members, and Guests with any requests or accommodations, Saying Yes to every Member, every time

    • Adhere to all health and sanitation codes and guidelines at all times

    • Maintain the cleanliness of the Aquatics, Kids' Camp, and Recreation areas

    • Promote a fun and relaxing atmosphere, responding to all requests in a timely and professional manner with hospitality and enthusiasm

    • Project an upbeat and positive attitude with a good work ethic at all times

    • Advise management of any complaints as soon as they occur, all while confidently solving Members', Guest Members', and Guests' problems whenever possible

    • Complete all opening, side, & closing duties, as instructed, completing required daily checklists

    • Be knowledgeable about Club events, promotions, offerings, hours, general activities, and closures, providing Members, Guest Members, and Guests with helpful information

    • Assist with the cleanliness of the Aquatics and Kid's Camp areas, adhering to all club standards

    • Be detail-oriented and able to prioritize in a fast-paced environment

    Qualifications & Education Requirements

    • Must be comfortable working outdoors in coastal summer weather and temperatures

    • Must be comfortable interacting with children of all ages as well as adults

    • Must possess follow-through, creativity, and a high level of motivation

    • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally

    • Willingness to learn and accept instruction

    • Must be dependable, prompt, and team-oriented

    • Country or Private Club experience preferred

    • Current Lifeguard Certification required

    • Because of the fluctuating demands of the Clubs' operation, it may be necessary for each employee to perform a multitude of different functions; therefore, as an essential part of your job, you will be expected to help others when the occasion arises, just as others are expected to help you while we foster a team environment. Therefore, you may be required to perform other tasks, as needed, that are not included in the above.

    • Adhere to all of the various company written mandatory standards of operations, policies and procedures, manuals, memos, and other oral instructions.

    Working Conditions

    • Outdoors, on pool deck in varying weather

    Physical Requirements

    • Regularly required to sit, talk, hear, walk and use hands

    • Must be able to sit, stand & walk for long periods of time

    • Ability to bend, squat, lift, kneel, and crouch

    • Must be a strong swimmer

    Attendance Expectations

    • This position has an expected workload of 25-45 hours per week; barring instances when overtime may be required and off-season hours may differ
