    Job Summary:

    This role is responsible for performing major servicing and repairs on a variety of mechanical, electrical, electronic, and hydraulic systems for fleet of heavy equipment in the field. Integral to our overall operations, this is a hands-on position that may work into a supervisory role .

    Education:

    • Highschool or equivalent
    • Preferred tech school or 4-year college pertaining to heavy duty repair or equipment management.
    • Valid driver’s license
    • CDL is required. Will hire non-CDL but must be willing to get CDL in 6 months after hire

    Experience:

    • 2 yrs. exp with heavy duty equipment, electrical repair, and general fleet maintenance in the construction industry
    • DOT Inspection experience

    Skills:

    • Proficiency with MS office programs and able to use computers to communicate, document work and manage information
    • Able to operate various heavy equipment properly and safely
    • Mid-level diagnostic ability
    • Ability to understand instructions, written and verbal

    Responsibilities:

    • Performs general and special maintenance, including hydraulic, electrical, and pneumatic diagnosis and repair on trucks and equipment in both the shop and field.
    • Accountable to Divisional management for local needs, Easter region equipment superintendent, and corporate equipment manager on reporting and comms regarding equipment. Communicate severe issues with regional managers, Eastern region, and the corporate equipment manager.
    • Completes routine inspections on trucks and equipment as necessary.
    • Maintain maintenance records electronically using software already in place. Type repair reports and upload invoices in the software under the applicable equipment number.
    • Assists with or completes the fabrication of parts and/or tools necessary to complete a specific task.
    • Orders and organizes parts and maintains stock of inventory. Follows up to ensure all needed parts and/or supplies have been properly documented, ordered, and/or received.
    • Ensure that all services/oil changes are completed on time and at the correct interval.
    • Ensure shop and yard space is clean and always organized.
    • Ensure all service trucks are kept clean and organized.
    • Ensure all fleet vehicles, especially DOT vehicles, are ready to go at a moment’s notice in safe working order.
    • Ensure lock out tag out processes are being followed on all applicable equipment.
    • Assist with areas DOT program, including but not limited to, vehicle compliance, driver compliance, assist or perform driver evaluations. Including performing annual DOT inspections or oversight of them.
    • Maintain backlog of equipment repairs
    • Maintain stock of ST&S items related to the equipment department and area needs. Examples, bolt bins, filters, commonly used parts, spark plugs etc.
    • Track and communicate when equipment is at life cycle end.
    • Ensure rental request, on/off hire reports are getting done. Understand when an RPO or straight purchase would be the preferred route.
    • Perform annual inspections on equipment. Log complete inspections in the software program.
    • Perform daily visual inspections on equipment and DVIR’s are being filled out and performed properly, utilizing HCSS.
    • Work closely with areas safety HSE, HCSS safety and equipment audits.
    • Manage vendor relationships and contracts to ensure we are getting the best price whether through volume or price shopping.
    • Complies with and follows all safety regulations.
    • Performs other duties as required.

    Physical Demands/Working Environment:


    • Will travel frequently to areas to perform repairs, assembling, mobilization, demobilization of equipment on projects in need
    • Work is performed in the field and in all weather conditions
    • Regular lifting, stooping, bending, crawling, grasping, pinching, walking, standing
    • Must be able to lift 75 lbs. unassisted
