    THEATRE DIRECTOR

     

     

    SALARY: In accordance with MAHE Contract (Currently $2,423 per production)

    JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for theatrical production including design, scheduling, auditions, and auditions. 

     

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Recommends a show, dates of performance, order scripts, and secure performance rights.
    • Develops creative concepts for production.
    • Selects and works with Technical Director to assemble a production crew and call meetings as necessary to communicate director’s concepts regarding design, ideas and budget requests.
    • Selects and works with costume designers regarding dress ideas.
    • Holds auditions as required prior to production.
    • Selects cast and devises rehearsal schedule.
    • Holds rehearsals as needed.
    • Monitors individual crews’ progress toward establishing designs and goals.
    • Evaluates cast and crew members not progressing toward established production goals.
    • helps promote performance attendance.
    • Anticipates additional production time needed during “Technical Week” outside of normal rehearsal schedule which can include weekends.
    • Monitors effectiveness of production.
    • Ensures public performance.
    • Meets with CAO of Arts and Sciences at the beginning of the semester to review and affirm agenda of activities for College year.

     

    SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Reports to the CAO.

     

    SUPERVISION GIVEN: Provides general supervision to the, student crews and actors.

     

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Experience in directing theatrical productions is required. A master’s degree in Theatre or related area is preferred; a bachelor’s degree is required. Experience with, student activities, and a willingness to work with students in a service capacity required. Must possess strong oral and written communication skills and be able to work as a team member with the College community.

  • Qualifications

    Responsibilities include drafting and preparing documents for state and various federal court filings (including e-Filings), discovery requests and responses, letters and other miscellaneous pleadings, motions forms and other documents.  IP Litigation experience preferred but not necessary.
