    SALARY RANGE: $16.00 per hour

    JOB SUMMARY: The Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Secretary is responsible for providing secretarial support to the Director of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion carrying out various functions, as assigned, in support of the institutions DEI initiatives. 

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Provide secretarial support to the Director of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion while adhering to college policies and procedures.
    • Perform customer service functions by answering phones for the department and answering basic requests and questions from students, faculty, staff and visitors.
    • Serve as main point of contact for department; organize and respond to emails received within the DEI email account.
    • Assist the Director of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in maintaining departmental budgetary records, input and track the purchase of department supplies and equipment following the established college purchasing guidelines.
    • Assists with event planning of DEI initiatives as necessary.
    • Maintain daily calendar, schedule meetings, distribute office mail, and compose correspondence as needed.
    • Perform data entry and maintenance of DEI and college databases and spreadsheets within the purview of the position.
    • Maintain knowledge of diversity-related issues, laws, and best practices.
    • Perform other duties as requested.

    SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Supervised by the Director of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.

    EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Associate’s Degree and at least one (1) year of similar experience in an educational or business environment required.  Understanding and exposure to the community college setting preferred.  Previous DEI experience preferred.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
    • Strong interpersonal skills; ability to work effectively with faculty and staff at all levels.
    • Organized and detail oriented with high level of accuracy.
    • Strong analytical skills; quick learner.
    • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office applications including: Excel, Outlook, Power Point, Word.
    • Strong work ethic, energetic, self-motivated, sense of urgency and “can-do” attitude.
    • Team player, able to get along well with others, advocate and exemplify a cooperative approach to solving problems.

    The Paralegal will undertake a range of tasks and responsibilities that facilitate and coordinate the activities of the two practice groups.  Examples of these activities are assisting attorneys with research, drafting and tracking a variety of topics related to client legal updates; preparing correspondence and external written communication; drafting/comparing transactional documents; assisting in the preparation and review of transactional documentation including assembly, tracking and distribution of all closing documents; providing assistance to lawyers at the closing; preparing, compiling and organizing documentation for filing with the requisite government agencies for land use/zoning approvals and condominium and other common interest developments; monitoring legislative and master plan actions in various jurisdictions; preparing property summaries related to zoning and subdivision status; maintaining a calendar of relevant dates; recording documents and handling the process for the approval and recordation of plats in DC and other jurisdictions; and conducting review of newly enacted legislation for client summaries.
