    St. Clair County Community College is accepting resumes for part-time instructors (adjunct faculty). Morning, afternoon, evening, and online offerings may be available.

    CLASSIFICATION: Part-Time, on a semester basis

    FLSA STATUS: Exempt, Hourly

    COMPENSATION : 2026/2027 of Academic Year

    Master's degree rate = $657 – $1,104 per contact hour

    Contact hours range between 2 and 4, depending on the course offered.

    JOB SUMMARY: Design and deliver instruction to students.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Teaching assignments may include Introduction to Philosophy, Philosophy of Religion, and Logic.

    • Teaching assignments may include day, evening, weekend, and/or online courses.

    • Teaching responsibilities include teaching, maintaining scheduled office hours, and advising students.

    • Participation in developing and improving academic courses.

    • Prepare and deliver academic instruction, including developing syllabi, developing content, and designing assessments.

    • Maintain and submit necessary class records, including early alert and final grade reports and attendance verification for financial aid compliance.

    • Participate in student grade appeal procedures.

    • Observe the college calendar.

    • Post and maintain office hours.

    • Participate in assessment of student learning according to the assessment plan.

    REQUIREMENTS:

    • Master’s degree or master’s degree with 18 credit hours in Philosophy or related field preferred.

    • Teaching experience at the higher education level preferred.

    • All academic degrees must be from a regionally accredited college or university

    • Ability to maintain good relationships with students, staff, and community members

    Applicants should have critical thinking skills, the aptitude to translate business needs into technical solutions, and analyze all of the current electronic resources to make sound recommendations for efficient solutions. Excellent organizational, communication, good judgement and problem solving skills, along with the ability to maintain the confidentiality of data and exercise discretion. Strong business and work ethic required.
