    TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Full-Time, 52 weeks

    CLASSIFICATION: Career Plan

    ANNUAL SALARY: $65,000 - $70,000 based on skills, qualifications, and experience. Generous benefit package (as described below).

    FLSA STATUS: Salary/Exempt

    HOURS: Mon - Friday: 8 am. to 4:30 p.m. Average 37.5 hours. Hours vary and may include limited evenings and weekends.

    JOB SUMMARY: The Nursing Program Director will provide leadership and coordination of all Nursing Programs including the Associate Degree Nursing (ADN) Program, Practical Nursing (PN) Program, and ADN Transition Program. The Nursing Program Director is responsible for ensuring each of the Nursing Programs maintain approval/accreditation with the Michigan State Board of Nursing and the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN).

     

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Coordinate the preparation of appropriate licensing board reports and approval/accreditation visits of the Michigan State Board of Nursing and Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) to maintain full approval/accreditation status.
    • Evaluate student applications and make recommendations for student selection to nursing programs in accordance with established guidelines.
    • Provide academic oversite that meets national accreditation standards.
    • Collaborate with faculty to facilitate student-centered learning environments and services that promote student success.
    • Understand and effectively convey information about the latest trends, practices and regulations pertaining to the nursing profession.
    • Support new technologies available to nursing education and maximize the use of simulation training in the nursing programs.
    • Participate in the evaluation process for part-time faculty in the nursing programs.
    • Plan and oversee continuing medical education opportunities for nursing faculty.
    • Assist with budget preparation for the nursing programs.
    • Ensure compliance and implementation of nursing policies and procedures.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

     

    SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Reports to the Dean of Health Sciences.

     

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

    • Master’s degree in nursing. PhD in nursing preferred.  
    • Current Michigan License as a registered nurse or eligibility for Michigan licensure required.
    • Experience in administration/management in nursing with a minimum of two (2) years of clinical experience [five (5) years preferred].
    • Knowledge of operational issues of health care organization, health care reform, and regulatory requirements.
    • Leadership experience preferred.

    • Strong interpersonal, analytic, problem solving, and organizational skills.
    • Self-motivated with a strong work ethic.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Enthusiasm for the implementation of emerging nursing-related technologies, including simulation.
    • Team player, advocating and exemplifying a cooperative approach to solving problems.
    • Ability to foster relationships with community partners.
    • Respect and empathy for a diverse population.

    Thirty-eight (38) days paid time off upon hire
