  • Responsibilities

    The Assistant Safety Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the training and safe operations of drivers and motorcoaches. Promotes the company’s commitment towards safety and fairness to all employees and assists with maintaining and improving the company in the areas of the safety program, customer service, and the driver’s well-being. Responsible for company computer.

     

    DUTIES

    • Coordinates with maintenance department as needed for ensuring estimates for damage repairs are obtained in a timely fashion. Assists maintenance department with emergency situations and obtaining replacement equipment etc.
    • Works with dispatch/operations department to ensure needed equipment and personnel is available for new driver training.
    • Audits accident reports from Safety Coordinator to ensure accuracy and completion and submits through appropriate channel.
    • Regularly maintains DataBits and accident tracking process to ensure region information is up to date.
    • Works with safety/risk director to monitor and maintain Zonar system alerts on buses, to include (but not limited to) speed, idle time, hard braking, hours of service.
    • Schedules and informs drivers of upcoming events i.e. training sessions, meetings.
    • Provides input to location and Regional Operations Manager regarding performance reviews, disciplinary actions, and performance coaching.
    • Reliable attendance, works in excess of normal working hours as workloads and seasonal activities are encountered.
    • Complies with company safety policies and procedures.
    • Assists safety coordinator in ensuring all new hire and on-boarding is completed immediately and accurately as new hire classes start.
    • Assist Safety Coordinator with driver compliance in company body card policy including soft cards at start of trip and regular update of hard cards in equipment.
    • Assists Safety Coordinator in planning, communication, set up, and execution of driver Roadeo event.
    • Oversee collection of DVIR’s and enter into Zonar Down/Incomplete Inspection Report.
    • Assist in monitoring and maintaining LMS training system to prepare for each new month’s topics.
    • Monitor DriveCam videos and notify Safety Coordinator of issues needing to be addressed with drivers.
    • Ability to act in a professional manner at all times, including stressful situations.

    Required Skills

     

    • Possess or have the ability to obtain a CDL license within 90 days of hire
    • Must have a clean and safe driving record with the DMV and be insurable on the company’s vehicle insurance policy
    • Overall knowledge of safety and compliance in the transportation industry.
    • Must maintain a high level of confidentiality and professionalism at all times
    • Knowledge of and ability to learn and/or use Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and various other software systems.
    • Ability to clearly communicate and enforce policies and procedures in a manner that is easily understood by others and implement safety and training programs.
    • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions and to express ideas effectively orally and in writing.
    • Ability to accurately and proficiently handle numerous details and tasks simultaneously.
    • Knowledge and application of basic mathematics.
    • Ability to effectively present to different size groups and audience types.
    • Ability to work with a variety of skilled/unskilled, professional and administrative personnel.
    • Ability to learn company policies and training curriculum and deliver both in a consistent and detailed manner.
    • Must be a team player and willing to accept and support company processes and systems.

    Required Experience

    EDUCATION

    •  High School Diploma or equivalent
    • Some college preferred

     

     EXPERIENCE

    • Safety experience preferred
    • Office experience preferred
  • Qualifications
