    KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

    The Mechanic I should be able to operate all the equipment in their department and know all the department processes and procedures. This position should require minimal supervision and be capable of directing a group of mechanics.

    PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

    • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Sheet Metal Fabricator preferred.

    • Must have good product knowledge and understand the fabrication process.

    • Must have a broad knowledge of engineering drawings and interpretation of blue prints and be able to read

    and understand BAC fabrication drawings.

    • Must be able to read and interpret drawings, use simple math, and use basic hand held measuring tools.

    • Ability to use and understand the following measurement equipment: micrometers, tape measures, dial calipers, square, protractor, and micrometer.

    • Good organizational, interpersonal, and analytical skills.

    • Ability to understand and react to job schedules.

    • Must be flexible and able to adapt quickly to change.

    • Understand the complete operation of all laser cell fabrication equipment.

    • Understand the capacity and limitations as well as the preventative maintenance requirements and minor trouble shooting of the 2D Laser Cutting machine and the Press Brake.

    • Operate all equipment correctly and efficiently including start up, production, and shut down according to

    ISO procedures.

    • Navigate and load to machine controllers CNC programs stored on the LAN

    • Able to change press brake tooling and laser cutting head and lens

    • Understand the nesting and drop-off management process and follow the rules to minimize scrap losses.

    • Interpret work orders, blue prints, and measuring devices.

    • Train less experienced members of Sheet Metal team and guide their work performance.

    • Directs work of others in Sheet Metal as assigned.

    • Maintain the work area and equipment in a clean orderly condition and follow prescribed safety regulations.

    • Will be required to perform other duties as requested, directed or assigned.

    • Must be able to successfully complete the California Compliance School.

    • Understanding of basic Lean Principles of 8 Wastes and 5S program. The ability to contribute new ideas and sustain these processes.

    • Must consistently demonstrate good performance in the area of productivity, safety, and overall work habits.

    • Basic knowledge of computers including but not limited to Microsoft Office and PeopleSoft.

    • Performs all other duties as assigned by the Team leader, Plant superintendent or Plant manager.

    • Must have good attendance. This requires applicant not to have been on the points system in the previous

    year.

    • Ability to work any shift if needed.
