    JOB DESCRIPTION

    The Aging Nutrition Fellow will be embedded in the Baltimore City Health Department Division of Aging. The Fellow will report to the Director of Community Services. The Fellow will support food program operations that may include home delivered grocery boxes, congregate meals, and home delivered meals. The Fellow will support SNAP outreach efforts and help older adults better utilize federal nutrition benefits including Seniors Farmers' Market Nutrition Program (SFMNP). The Fellow will support outreach and partnership efforts within the Division of Aging.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    STRATEGY AND OUTREACH (40%)

    • Research the current utilization of SNAP and other federal nutrition benefits among older adults in Baltimore City

    • Support SNAP outreach efforts

    • Assist older adults in the SNAP application process

    • Create strategies to increase SFMNP redemption

    PROJECT MANAGEMENT (40%)

    • Support daily food program operations for home delivered grocery boxes

    • Coordinate with MAP call center and program partners, to assure accurate transmission of data, and an efficient workflow.

    • Develop procedures for quality control.

    DATA TRACKING AND REPORTING (20%)

    • Managing nutrition data. This will include assuring that nutrition data is entered into multiple reporting/data collection systems, and that the outputs from these data systems are consistent.

    • Assists Assistant Commissioner in preparing reports for funding agencies and the Department.

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

    • Excellent interpersonal skills to interact with diverse stakeholders

    • Excellent writing skills with the ability to clearly and concisely communicate detailed information

    • Strong organizational skills and detail orientation

    • Strong problem solver with ability to understand and make use of / adapt to new information quickly

    • Listens to the concerns of others and builds trust easily

    • Collaborates well with partners from different disciplines and builds consensus

    • Have reliable form of transportation to travel to all parts of Baltimore

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

    • Basic understanding of food access issues

    • Experience with data tracking and data management

    WORK ENVIRONMENT & SAFETY PROTOCOL

    • Work follows the CDC best practices for the safety of staff

    • This role will typically be in the office 2 days a week and 3 days remote (but can vary)

    REPORTS TO: Acting Assistant Commissioner of Community Services
