    OVERVIEW

    The Baltimore Digital Equity Coalition (BDEC) is dedicated to advancing digital equity for all Baltimoreans and statewide. As a cohort of nearly 100 member organizations, BDEC works to address both the urgent and long-term need for increased digital access, coordinating efforts to educate and advocate for bringing vital resources back to our communities.

    JOB DESCRIPTION

    At BDEC, the Digital Equity Associate will be responsible for supporting the Executive Director and Advisory Board with organizational functions relating to coalition-building to address digital equity needs that include structural solutions to affordable Internet access, devices, and digital skills. As the Coalition consists of a very small full-time team, the Digital Equity Associate will play an integral role.

    Education & Experience Requirements

    • 1-2+ years of administrative assistance experience, preferably in non-profit or government sector. 
    • Experience in nonprofits, digital equity or technology is highly valued.

    • You are an empathetic and engaged listener who understands the needs and struggles of residents and coalition members in local and statewide efforts to close the digital divide; Proficient with Google Suite (Sheets, Docs, Slides, Calendar); and are committed to ensuring that the Coalition reach it measured goals

    • High level of interpersonal and ethical skills to handle highly sensitive and confidential information, situations, and documentation

    • Superb verbal and written communication skills with attention to detail in composing correspondence

    • Keen eye for creative media

    • Interest in collecting/reviewing data

    • Knowledge about the Baltimore landscape; someone with lived-experiences is a BONUS

     

    What You’ll Do (Role and Responsibilities)

    • Support coordinating efforts between stakeholders in promoting digital equity to address all aspects of the digital divide, including affordable Internet access, devices, and digital skills

    • Collaborate with coalition members, community groups, and private sector organizations

    • Provide technical assistance, assist with facilitating Coalition meetings, and attend community meetings

    • Build relationships with stakeholders, especially in Baltimore to understand the urban digital divide

    • Complete additional administrative tasks common to a small team

       

    This position is for full-time employment and reports to the Executive Director. Our team works remotely in Baltimore, Maryland. The Baltimore Digital Equity Coalition welcomes applicants from diverse backgrounds and experiences.     Compensation

    • Starting at $45,000.
    • Salary is commensurate with experience. This position is grant-funded in which case employment after one-year is contingent upon future funding and subject to approval of our fiscal sponsor, the Maryland Philanthropy Network.
    • Position includes 100% employer-paid health plan, holiday leave, and 401K contribution matching.
