ORGANIZATION OVERVIEW
The South Baltimore Gateway Partnership (SBGP) is a rapidly growing, nimble, and entrepreneurial community economic development authority working in a collection of neighborhoods in the South Baltimore Gateway Community Impact District. SBGP is a relatively new organization with a vigorous startup culture and a mandate to achieve measurable and meaningful change in the District. SBGP is funded with approximately $7 million/year in public funds, of which a portion is awarded as grants and the rest is contracted with vendors to improve neighborhoods. JOB SUMMARY
The South Baltimore Gateway Partnerships is seeking a full-time Financial Operations Manager temporarily between February and June 30, 2022. The primary goal of this role is to ensure that SBGP financially operates efficiently, effectively, transparently, professionally, and ethically. The ideal candidate is great with basic accounting, extremely organized, detail oriented while sharing a passion for improving Baltimore neighborhoods.
Reports to: Deputy Director
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Finance, Billing and Payments (60%)
Coordinate, track, and manage the approval of payment requests from grantees
and vendors, and submit approved requests for processing
Review payment requests for completeness, accuracy, budget limits, compliance
with generally accepted accounting principles, and other requirements (e.g. City
MBE/WBE participation)
Identify delayed or interrupted payments, and work with staff, vendors and
grantees to resolve any issues
Maintain and ensure compliance of vendor documents, vendor contracts, payment requests and related documentation
Reconcile organizational credit card transactions, collect receipts, and coordinate
payment processing
Provide support to the Deputy Director for annual financial audits as needed
Budget Management (20%)
Maintain and monitor accurate budget-to-actual reports confirming the amount spent on each project compared to budget

spent in compliance with City MBE/WBE participation goals, when they apply to a
given project
Compliance and Administration (10%)
Assist the Deputy Director in maintaining compliance with MBE/WBE participation requirements
Provide periodical support such as collecting program management and training documents as well as other administrative and logistical assistance
Procurement (10%)
Assist other staff in administering procurements of services and supplies,
including Requests for Proposals (RFP)
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
3+ years of accounting operations related experience, preferably with a progressively responsible nonprofit or public organization
Proficiency with Microsoft Suite- Word and Excel
Knowledge and experience with ethics in finances
Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills
Excellent organizational, project management and time-management skills
Prior experience with working with minimal supervision and demonstrated ability to work independently
Access to reliable transportation for in-person meetings, community events and site visits within the South Baltimore, MD vicinity (during evenings and weekends)
Must be a Baltimore City resident
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Advanced degree in finance, accounting, public administration,
business administration, or a related field
5+ years experience in an accounting related role for a non-profit or public administration industry
Proficiency with QuickBooks
Strong knowledge of Baltimore City MBE/WBE rules
Familiarity with Baltimore City communities
Residence in the South Baltimore Gateway District

TIMELINE, LOCATION & COMPENSATION
Employment Status: Full-Time | Exempt | Temporary Employee | approximately February 2022 through June 30, 2022
Compensation: $26.44 to $31.25/hour
Schedule: 40 hours per week, including during core business hours of 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM Monday-Friday
Due to COVID-19 safety protocols, SGBP’s staff is temporarily 90% telework. While some meetings are held via video conferencing, other meetings will be in-person for site visits, and community events during evenings and weekends
