JOB DESCRIPTION
The Chief Financial Officer leads the financial strategy of the organization. Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Chief Financial Officer directs and oversees all financial activities of the corporation, directs the preparation of current financial reports and summaries, creates forecasts predicting future growth and funding needs, and provides guidance to the National Leadership Team to aid in organizational decision-making. The CFO is responsible for overseeing the financial operations of Baltimore Corps and ensuring financial stability for the organization.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
NATIONAL ORGANIZATION LEADERSHIP (15%)
Ensure that the organization has a viable long-term strategy that is scalable and fiscally responsible and has a diversified and sustainable funding base in collaboration with the Board of Directors and National Leadership Team.
Establish goals, objectives, and operational plans in collaboration with the Board of Directors, staff, and other leaders
Establish and drive ongoing improvement and development of a transformative and diverse organization culture consistent with the organization’s purpose, mission, and core values
Advise local City Corps sites to support sites in achieving their goals and collaborate with City Corps Executive Directors to share learnings, opportunities, and advance the national City Corps network
FINANCE (80%)
Oversee all accounts, ledgers, financial software and reporting systems ensuring policies and procedures are in compliance with appropriate GAAP standards and regulatory requirements
Supervise and oversee the finance team, including the Senior Director of Finance and Accountant, as well as consultants; Manage finance department personnel to include hiring, training, delegation of duties and performance management
Manage and actively support the Senior Director of Finance and Accountant to execute financial operations of Baltimore Corps/ City Corps in the areas of accounting, reporting, banking, budgeting, procurement, compliance, and financial planning
Lead financial forecasting and cash flow management for the organization
Partner with the leadership team by assessing organizational performance against financial plans (both the annual budget and the organization’s long-term needs and goals) and provide financial expertise for efforts to remediate identified deficiencies, shortfalls, or opportunities
Forecast and regularly analyze return on investment for current and future programs, work to maximize utilization of resources while operating high-quality, high-impact programs
Oversee an inclusive process with the board of directors, leadership team, and directors to develop and monitor the annual operating budget and control expenditures against budget
Collaborate with the Development team and program staff to prepare budgets for proposals and meet grant requirements and reporting
Provide financial guidance and leadership for cross-departmental teams and projects
Collaborate with the Operations team to ensure strong systems for financial management and operations
Lead organizational risk management and perform ongoing and regular risk analysis of the organization’s liabilities and investments
Coordinate with external auditors and relevant staff to oversee and complete the annual audit and 990 process with a goal of maintaining clean findings for Baltimore Corps/City Corps
Proactively maintain a strong financial controls environment maintaining fiduciary oversight by ensuring compliance with regulations, legal requirements, and Baltimore Corps policies
Ensure accurate and timely payments and invoicing and smooth day-to-day transactions for accounts payable and accounts receivable
Consistently analyze financial data and present financial reports in an accurate and timely manner; clearly communicate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements; monitor progress and changes and keep senior leadership abreast of Baltimore Corps’ financial status
Identify, analyze, and develop plans to address opportunities for setting the organization up for strong financial and operational health and process
Regularly evaluate and identify opportunities for improved financial operations, recordkeeping, and reporting
Ensure staff training in the areas of budget development, budget management, fiscal accountability, finance procedures and more
Maintain relationships with external auditors, vendors, insurance carriers, and other groups and individuals key to the organization’s success and financial health
Ensure Baltimore Corps/City Corps achieve annual and multi-year financial sustainability goals and budget results
Provide organizational financial oversight and monitoring and ensure that relevant financial data is presented to the Boards of Directors, CEO, and senior leadership team
OTHER (5%)
Serve as a thought leader and engage externally to advance the organization’s work and leader in talent and relevant finance groups
Some travel may be required (~5% of the time)

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Significant experience in the fields of accounting, finance or business administration and proven work as a CFO
Thorough knowledge of budgeting and accounting practices, processes, and procedures and financial reporting requirements of non-profit organizations
Experience with federal grants and other diverse and complex revenue streams
Experience coordinating audits, preferably single audits
Excellent knowledge of data analysis, risk management, and forecasting methods
Highly detail-oriented, careful, and precise
Knowledge of QuickBooks, Excel, and other financial software
Ability to strategize and solve problems
Strong leadership and organizational skills
Excellent communication and people skills
An analytical mind, comfortable with numbers
Experience managing high-performing teams
Mission-driven spirit and alignment with the values of Baltimore Corps
REPORTS TO: Baltimore Corps’ Chief Executive Officer
HYBRID WORK POLICY
Baltimore Corps is currently working towards in-person policies. Candidates must be local (D.C., Maryland, Virginia) and have the ability to attend in-person required meetings in the upcoming months as needed.

TIMELINE AND COMPENSATION
The Chief Financial Officer is a salaried position, ranging from $120,000 - $160,000, commensurate with qualifications and experience. This position is also eligible for performance-based bonuses.
